Tests centrifuge

It is known that the specific resistance for centrifuge cake, especially for compressible cake, is greater than that of the pressure or vacuum filter. Therefore, the specific resistance has to be measured from centrifuge tests for different cake thicknesses so as to scale up accurately for centrifuge performance. It cannot be extrapolated from pressure and vacuum filtration data. For cake thickness that is much smaller compared to the basket radius, Eq. (18-116 7) can be approximated by... [Pg.1740]

Apples (Red Belle de Boskoop, Jonagold or Mutzu) were cut and milled (1.5 mm) and 5% (w/w) of a 2% ascorbic acid solution was added immediately. Enzyme preparations (25 mg enzyme protein / kg mash) were added and the mash was incubated for 2 hours at 20°C whereafter it was pressed. The resulting apple juice was pasteurised at 85°C to discontinue further enzyme degradation. The cloud was measured as turbidity in EF/F units [15]. The cloud stability was determined by a centrifugation test as the amount of turbidity remaining after centrifugation at 4,200 x g for 15 minutes [15]. [Pg.465]

For the same experimental conditions as described in the flow experiments, (i.e., 10 pm glass particles, pure water flowing solution) centrifuge tests yield a higher force to release particles. The torque required for particle release is the same in both experiments hence, particle release in the flow cell is initiated by a rolling rather than sliding motion (Figure 9). [Pg.552]

NFS claims that DeHg technology offers a low-temperature alternative to other mercury recovery processes. They claim that the final waste form generated by processing passes Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) criteria for disposal, and that centrifuge testing has proven that no free liquid mercury remains in the treated product. [Pg.331]

C) Centrifuge Test. The purpose of this test usually employed for rockets and missile-type fuzes is to check the operating features of the fuze, such as arming mechanism. A brief description of the procedure is given on p IIB-22 of Ref 39)... [Pg.1099]

A more recent French test called "Ex sudacion par etuvage is described by Medard (Ref 6) and in Vol 1 of Encycl, p XI. A similar French test was described by Pepin Lehalleur (Ref 5, p 61) who also described the Pressure Test similar to that described In Daniel and the Centrifuge Test similar to that described in Refs 2 3 and in Vol 2 of... [Pg.380]

Snelling Storm (Ref 2, pp 8-11) described the following tests, used at that time (1916) at the USBurMines a) Forty Degree Test b) Pressure Test and c) Centrifugal Test. Then the Pressure Test was abandoned and in Bulletin 346 of 1931 (Ref 4, pp 25—6), only Centrifuge... [Pg.380]

Test and Forty-Degree Test are described, in addn to the 3ritish Test (pp 26—7). Centrifuge Test is described in Vol 2 of Encycl, pp C143-R C144-L, while Forty-Degree Test is in this Vol. The British Test is described as item b under tests described in Daniel (Ref 1, p 409)... [Pg.380]

Short Term Tests. Centrifuge Tests. Samples of the slurries are syringed into tubes which are capped at both ends. The tubes are then centrifuged (International Centrifuge Type SB) at a force of 50 g for 30 minutes. After the acceleration, samples from the top and bottom of... [Pg.367]

Note Before the centrifuge test was developed by Dr W.O. Snelling, the Bur of Mines used the pressure test for exudation, which consisted in exposing a sample of explosive to a definite pressure produced by the weight of a lever arm, and determining the amt of liquid forced out of the expl. Many modifications of this test have been tried, in which absorbent materials like cotton or blotting paper have been used to hold the exudant, but none of them made the test reliable (Ref 1, p9)... [Pg.512]

Following tests are described in Ref 1, pp 25—7 a)Centrifuge Test b)Porty Degree Test and c)British Test. Of these the centrifuge test waa adopted by the Bur Mines as being best suited for ascertaining the liability of dynamites to exude... [Pg.708]

The procedure for centrifugal testing of dynamites, as was used in England, is described in Ref l,pp 421-2... [Pg.538]

Work on the characterization of oil-field emulsions coupled with chemical characterization of commercially available demulsifier formulations has shown that physical processes (temperature, pumping, and dispersed water size distribution) can be at least as important as the chemical effects associated with demulsifiers themselves in determining demulsifier effectiveness [468,469].In fact, there are so many variables involved in industrial demulsification that, to a large degree, demulsifier selection and performance evaluation are still conducted using simple test procedures developed for use in the plant or field. These tests, usually bottle or centrifuge tests, can be good indicators of performance trends, and are usually carried out for selected suites of commercial demulsifier formulations. [Pg.217]

Emulsions An empirical test in which varying amounts of a potential demulsifier or coagulant are added into a series of tubes or bottles containing sub-samples of an emulsion or other dispersion that is to be broken or coagulated. After some specified time, the extent of phase separation and appearance of the interface separating the phases are noted. This test has many variations. For emulsions, in addition to the demulsifier, a diluent can be added to reduce viscosity. In the centrifuge test, centrifugal force can be added to speed up the phase separation. Other synonyms include jar test, beaker test. [Pg.361]

Demulsifier that can be used to enhance the separation of oil from water and solids, in an emulsion, in the centrifuge test for determining basic sediment and water (BS W). Also termed slugging compound . [Pg.379]
