The Centers for Education and Research in Therapeutics (CERTs), funded by AHRQ, have funded an effort in SJS, and both AHRQ and the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) have funded efforts in prolonged QT. Several high-profile drugs have been withdrawn due to prolongation of QT, including cisapride.

AHRQ will develop research and build partnerships with heath care practitioners and healthcare systems, and establish a permanent program of Centers for Education and Research in Therapeutics (CERTs). Since 1997 different scientific institutions at Uppsala University have joined in a center for education and research within fields connected to materials science. The laboratory is named after Anders Johan Angstrom (Figures 10.9 and 10.10) whose achievements were described above, and also after his son Knut Angstrom, also professor in Uppsala. The son Knut devoted a great part of his research to the radiation from the sun [10.10]. 

Christine J ome, bom in 1971 in Belgium, completed her PhD in 1998 at the University of Liege, Belgium and then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the same university. In 2000, she joined the University of Ulm in Germany as a recipient of the Humboldt scholarship. She returned to the University of Liege in 2001 as a research associate of the National Foundation of the Scientific Research in the group of Professor R. lerome, where she became assistant professor in 2006 and director of the Center for Education and Research on Macromolecules in 2007. Her research interests indude electropolymerization, polymer functionalized nanoparticles, and biomaterials.
