Oman. Decoction of the bark is taken orally for constipation. Barks and leaves are applied externally for skin rash. Fruit resin mixed with the gall bladder of sheep or goat is applied ophthalmically for cataract. The fruit is applied externally for fractured limb. Cataplasm prepared from leaves is applied externally for ulcers .

Teas Coarsely powdered mixtures of dried herbs intended for medicinal teas or poultices also known as Species. The National Formulary recognized an Emollient Species, used as a cataplasm a Laxative Species (St. Germain Tea) and a Pectoral Species (Breast Tea) for a catarrhal condition of the respiratory tract through its 5th edition (1926). Similar teas from home-grown herbs persist as common household remedies. True tea from China was introduced to England by Christopher Borough in 1379. At temperatures above 40° (104° F.) myrosin becomes coagulated and incapable of decomposing potassium myronate, a. change which is also produced by contact with acetic acid. Aa the rubefacient and vesicant actions of mustard when moistened with HaO, are due to the prod action of allyl sulfocyanate, neither-vinegar, acetic acid, nor heat greater than 40° (104° F.) should be used in the preparation of mustard cataplasms. 

Use.—Same as Cataplasms Eurfuri. Opium, belladonna, or subacetate of lead may be added to this poultice when it is desired to allay irritation.

On bolted aluminium-steel assemblies with unprotected contacts, an important accumulation of alumina is observed in the contact area after a few years of immersion in seawater. This accumulation is capable of deforming the aluminium sheets. This cataplasm may stop galvanic corrosion, at the price of a certain deformation of the aluminium sheets. 

The experience with air-liquid heat exchangers comprising tubes with fins in aluminium shows that dust is a decisive factor in the durability of this equipment, which is often exposed to industrial atmosphere [16]. Dust accumulation at the bottom of fins combined with humidity forms a kind of acidic cataplasm that attacks aluminium. The heat exchange performance as well as the lifetime of this type of equipment are increased by periodical cleaning that eliminates dust accumulated at the bottom of the fins.
