Cannel

Let us consider one more physical phenomenon, which can influence upon PT sensitivity and efficiency. There is a process of liquid s penetration inside a capillary, physical nature of that is not obvious up to present time. Let us consider one-side-closed conical capillary immersed in a liquid. If a liquid wets capillary wall, it flows towards cannel s top due to capillary pressure pc. This process is very fast and capillary imbibition stage is going on until the liquid fills the channel up to the depth l , which corresponds the equality pcm = (Pc + Pa), where pa - atmospheric pressure and pcm - the pressure of compressed air blocked in the channel. [Pg.615]

The significant liquefaction yields that are presumed to have been derived from some macrinite-rich samples may attest to a contribution to conversion from this maceral. However, results from durains, and splint and cannel coals, which may contain large amounts of macrinite, generally have been variable (50). The conversion which we achieved with a coal containing 21% macrinite indicated that there was a contribution to the liquid products of batch hydrogenation from this maceral. Further, the residues examined from runs made with this coal at a series of temperatures contained no distinguishable macrinite product once a temperature of 425°C had been reached (66). [Pg.27]

Coals are also divided into two types based on their macroscopic appearance banded and non-banded. Non-banded coals include cannel and boghead coals, both of which are dull and blocky. [Pg.38]

Bone" and "bone coals" have a high ash content in the form of clays and silts they form part of a continuum between dark shale and dull (banded or non-banded) coal in the following sequence dark shale, bone (greater than 50% ash), boney coal (less than 50%), dull coal (cannel, boghead, or splint). [Pg.39]

In smooth muscle, the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) plays an important role in regulating cell excitability by communicating intimately with ion channels in the surface membrane. In most cases, Ca2+ release from ryanodine-sensitive Ca2+ release channels (RyRs) in the SR leads to a paradoxical decrease in smooth muscle cell excitability due to activation of plasma membrane K+ channels (Fig. 1 Nelson et al 1995). This is in stark contrast to cardiac muscle, where Ca2+ release from RyRs supplies the majority (> 90%) of Ca2+ required for contraction (Cheng et al 1993, Cannell et al 1995). In this paper, we will briefly review the basic... [Pg.189]
