C-type kinesins have a class-specific neck at the N-terminal side of their motor domain. In the case of DmNcd, the neck forms a continuous a-helix with the less conserved stalk. Constructs of the motor domain with a sufficiently long part of the neck dimerize by formation of a coiled-coil. [Pg.320]

To date, approximately 10 different kinesin subfamilies have been identified. All contain a globular head (motor) domain, but they differ in their tail domains and several other properties. In most kinesins, the motor domain is at the N-termlnus (N-type) of the heavy chain but, in others, the motor domain is centrally located (M-type) or at the C-terminus (C-type). Both N- and M-type kinesins are (+) end-directed motors, whereas C-type kinesins are (—) end directed motors. Two types of rocket motor propellants were used, namely a composite (C) and a doublebase (DB) type. The C-type propellants consisted of heterogeneous grains where the fuel and oxidiser were held together in a synthetic rubber matrix. The DB-types had homogeneous grains containing small amoimts of dispersed additives. There were 12 C-type and 6 DB-type rocket motor propellants. [Pg.438]

If a special-flammable storage cabinet ventilation system is installed, it should employ an AMCA-C type spark-resistant fan and an explosion-proof motor. Most fractional horsepower fans commonly used for this purpose do not meet this criterion and should not be used. In this type of system the a.c. electric motor is first disconnected from its supply and a d.c. current injected into its windings for sufficiently long to stop the motor. Power Take-Off From Engine or Transmission. This type of system is limited to tmcks and there are several take-off means available. Most are some form of electric power generation equipment, belt-driven from the engine crankshaft, which produces either a regulated a-c voltage or rectified direct current for the compressor and fan motors in the body. [Pg.69]

A subsequent study of construction features of motors for Zone 2 locations, resulted in the development of nonsparking, type n motors. The basic design consideration for such motors is similar to that of type e motors but now there is no restriction in the limiting temperature, by 10°C, as in type e motors. Frame sizes for these motors are generally the same as for general-purpose motors. Thus they tend to be smaller and less expensive than type e motors for the same output. [Pg.182]

Special provisions are laid down in lEC 60079-0 and lEC 60079-1 for motors required for such locations in view of fluctuating degrees of humidity and temperature. Such locations are defined with a surface temperature limit of 150°C where coal dust can form a layer, or 450°C where it is not expected to form a layer.
