Bryan factor

In reality, the nodes move as well, but with a distance factor to the turning of the cylinder. This distance factor is called the Bryan factor. The moving of the nodes can be detected and is a measure for the yaw rate. This principle, when produced by precision mechanics, gives an excellent resolution (about 0.01 °/s) and is used in the aircraft industry. The following yaw-rate sensor for automotive application works on this basis (Fig. 7.2.17). [Pg.311]

Stoll and Bryan (1979) first measured the thermal conductivity of propane hydrates (0.393 Wm-1K-1 at T = 215.15 K) to be a factor of 5 less than that of ice (2.23 Wm-1K-1). The low thermal conductivity of hydrates, as well as similarities of the values for each structure (shown in Table 2.8) have been confirmed from numerous studies (Cook and Leaist, 1983 [0.45 Wm-1K-1 for methane hydrate at 216.2 K] Cook andLaubitz, 1981 Ross et al., 1981 Ross and Andersson, 1982 Asher et al., 1986 Huang and Fan, 2004 Waite et al., 2005). The thermal conductivity of the solid hydrate (0.50-0.58 W m-1 K-1) more closely resembles that of liquid water (0.605 W m-1 K-1). [Pg.97]

The comparison (Sadat Blanchard, 2001) of the theoretical baryon fraction, as derived from numerical simulations, for two primordial gas fraction, fg =0.11 and fg = 0.09 (dotted lines), with the observed gas fraction at different density contrasts and using two different mass estimators inferred from numerical simulations filled symbols are values obtained with Bryan and Norman (1998) mass estimator, open symbols are obtained using Evrard et al (1996). Stars are derived from the data of Vikhlinin et al. (1999), corrected for the clumping factor (Mathiesen et al. (1999)). Figure 4.4.
