Bonus systems

Can a bonus system be incorporated into the labor element ... [Pg.791]

He had heard of beatings by the SS within the concentration camp proper, he went on, but he had ordered the camp commandant to stop it. Ordered an SS Colonel Yes, ordered, he repeated. He had even set up a bonus system as a kind of compensation to the inmates for their imprisonment. [Pg.185]

My men are still going over most of the stuff. I did bring back a few microfilms. I ll have them reproduced. You ought to have them by noon tomorrow. Remember Ambros bonus system Well, here s the weekly construction report on that. It is the report of the Lurinal Construction Company, and it says In the future the work performance of the inmates should be raised not only by harder punishment for laziness, but also through bonuses for good work. The other stuff, when it comes, will be hotter than that."... [Pg.198]

Employee satisfaction is investigated once every 2 years. Development conversations with employees were implemented a couple of years ago and are still in progress. No agreed upon system of rewards has been adopted but the top management has a bonus system and workers are offered a free lunch for every hazardous near miss case they report. The facilities are functional and clean enough. As usual in the crane business, the equipment is specific and functional and back-up machinery exists. Keeping track of equipment such as spare parts is not a problem. Customer feedback is collected Ifom each site and reviewed in monthly meetings. Feedback on customer satisfaction is performed after projects. [Pg.85]

The most obvious way to increase productivity is by getting workers to work harder. But there is little reason to think that any productivity increases which result from getting workers to expend more effort will be associated with safety improvements. If anything, as mentioned above, bonus systems of pay which encourage workers to work harder are likely to impact negatively on safety. [Pg.61]

Bonus systems, competitions and other materia incentives... [Pg.749]

Information on bonus systems is given in Information Note (Merkblatt) MiB2 issued by the German Cement Works Association. [Pg.749]

One feature of the new law is an SO, trading allowance program that encourages the use of market-based principles to reduce pollution. Utilities may trade allowances within their system and/or buy or sell allowances to and from other affected sources. For example, plants that emit SO, at a rate below 1.2 Ib/million Btu will be able to increase emissions by 20 percent between a baseline year and the year 2000. Also, bonus allowances will be distributed to accommodate growth by units in states with a statewide average below 0.8 Ib/million Btu. [Pg.444]

Tesla arrived in New York in 1884 and was hired by Edison. Edison understood Tesla s ability but remained unconvinced by his new employee s insistence on the use of alternating current for electrical power transmission. Nevertheless, Tesla accepted his assignment to work on improving Edison s direct-current method, which was then in use. Working long hours Tesla increased the system output and asked Edison for a 50,000 bonus, which Tesla understood he was to receive. Edison refused, claiming that the bonus had only been a joke. Tesla quit Edison s employ, and thereafter relations were strained between the two men. [Pg.1123]

Simulation is best described as the process of translating a real system into a working model in order to run experiments. A simulation does not duplicate a system rather it is an abstraction of reality using mathematics to express cause-and-effect relationships that determine the behavior of the system. Hence the representation displayed on a computer may not always be pictori-ally similar to the real system, and, if it is, then it must be regarded as an added bonus. Software for computer simulation is often customized and based on that developed in academia. There are not many commercial packages available for pharmaceutical formulation. [Pg.694]

Because of the extreme sensitivity of monolayers to contamination and the resulting likelihood of erroneous results, every precaution must be taken to ensure that all materials and instruments are clean. A great bonus for the stereochemical studies reported here is that comparison of the properties of enantiomers provides a rigorous check for internal consistency and purity that is not available to studies of achiral systems. Details have been given elsewhere and will not be included here (Thompson, 1981). [Pg.50]

As the mobile phase in this system is normally a sodium hydroxide solution there is no need to handle or dispose of organic solvents. This is a particular bonus to some smaller sites that are not set up to use organic solvents. [Pg.23]

BONUS (better optimization of nonlinear uncertain systems) algorithm, in control systems, 26 1046 Book of SEMI Standards (BOSS), in fine chemical production, 11 435 Books... [Pg.112]

The main purpose in transforming the above set of dimensional equations to an equivalent dimensionless form is to enable us to identify any terms which may be particularly important in determining the behaviour of the system. Generally, such terms will be revealed by some dimensionless parameters being much larger than others. An additional bonus of the process, however, is often that we can also reduce the number of parameters in the equations. Thus it may turn out that the behaviour is not determined primarily by the absolute values of all the rate constants, but only by one or two ratios of them. [Pg.58]

Dr. Quint has put herself in the position of Home TPN Care s controller. Her bonus, and that of her boss, the health system s vice president, will be determined in part by Home TPN Care s income in comparison with the budget. She can see from budgets submitted in the past that the organization s management usually... [Pg.314]
