Figure 15 The bnn net has a short symbol 4 6" and a long symbol 4-4-4-4-4-4 6 6 6. The three different types of cycles in this structure are color coded, showing one type of 4-gon and two types of hexagons. Note that the black cycle is short circuited by the green link and thus is not a ring in the mathematical sense, giving the of the vertex symbol. CTO prices are closely tied to the cycles of the U.S. economy and the paper industry. They vary between 120 and 220 per metric ton. In 1995 they were close to 200/t (4). With 50% of pine wood being converted to linerboard valued at 400— 600 per ton, pulp manufacturers do not focus on optimum black Hquor soap recovery, which only amounts of 60—70 kg/1 of southern pine pulp. This soap is converted to 30—35 kg of CTO, worth 6— 7 or less than a Htde over 1% of the pulp value (5). This recovery is only 45% of the CTO available in the pine tree. With more care and higher CTO prices, 10—15 kg of additional CTO could be obtained per ton of pulp (6). [Pg.304]

It should persist ia the mbber over its entire life cycle. For noncarbon black filled mbbers, the antiozonant must be nondiscoloring and nonstaining. The antiozonant should have a low toxicity and should be nonmutagenic, and, the antiozonant should be acceptable economically, eg, have low manufactufing and end use costs. [Pg.236]

Coin and Button Cell Commercial Systems. Initial commercialization of rechargeable lithium technology has been through the introduction of coin or button cells. The eadiest of these systems was the Li—C system commercialized by Matsushita Electric Industries (MEI) in 1985 (26,27). The negative electrode consists of a lithium alloy and the positive electrode consists of activated carbon [7440-44-0J, carbon black, and binder. The discharge curve is not flat, but rather slopes from about 3 V to 1.5 V in a manner similar to a capacitor. Use of lithium alloy circumvents problems with cycle life, dendrite formation, and safety. However, the system suffers from generally low energy density. [Pg.583]

Gas versus steam turbines can involve a major side study. The result can be different for the process and utility sides of the plant as shown in Reference 13. For the gas turbine case, simple cycle versus waste heat boilers can be studied. Usually, waste heat boilers will win out unless the plant is in a cheap gas country. If gas turbines are selected for power generation, black start capability is usually a good investment. [Pg.221]

Each one of these four models can be thought of as defining the response of a black-box to a tape of symbols that is fed to it, cyclically, one cell at a time. During each cycle, the black-box reads the symbol at the appropriate cell, responds to that symbol according to a set of model-specific rules, and then moves the tape forward by one cell. What type of computational model the black-box represents depends on its general response. Although a more detailed discussion of each of these types will be given in chapter 6, we mention here that the four models make up what is conventionally called the Chomsky hierarchy Each type of computational... [Pg.39]

Coal, a black mineral of vegetable origin, is believed to have come from the accumulation of decaying plant material in swamps during prehistoric eras when warm, wet climatic conditions permitted rapid growth of plants. The cycles of decay, new growth, and decay, caused successive layers of plant material to form and gradually build up into vast deposits. The accumulation of top layers of this material and of sedimentary... [Pg.321]

To date, with the exception of vehicle tires, TPEs have been replacing TS rubbers in virtually all applications. Unlike natural TS rubbers, most TPEs can be reground and reused, thereby reducing overall cost. There are types where the need to vulcanize them is eliminated, reducing cycle times, and products can be molded to tighter tolerances. Most TPEs can be colored, whereas natural rubber is available only in black. TPEs also weigh 10 to 40% less than natural rubber (166). [Pg.361]

Notice that the carbon black hller reduces the rate of cut growth, but has only a small effect on the power index. Generally, it appears that abrasion occurs mainly in the third region, except when the abrasive track is very sharp. In this case the number of cycles to detach a small piece of rubber becomes small and the abrasion is proportional to the reciprocal of the energy density at break of the rubber compound. [Pg.725]
