Better ecology

After Aristotle, the word synthesis is not found explicitly mentioned in the chemical literature until Dalton used it in his classical book. In the year 1808, Dalton (1766-1844) published his book A New System of Chemical Philosophy , the chapter IB of which is entitled On Chemical Synthesis . However, in the meantime the word synthesis had experienced a semantic change and acquired the modern meaning of forming a compound . There is, therefore, a time lapse of more than twenty centuries, in which the word synthesis was not mentioned by chemists, perhaps because all of them believed as Gerhardt (1816-1856) that "The chemist s activity is therefore exactly opposed to living nature the chemist bums, destroys and operates by analysis. Only the life force works by synthesis it builds up again the edifice tom down by chemical forces" [4], A better ecological manifesto would be... [Pg.3]

Better ecology Well-tolerated by the skin, no problems with waste water, air pollution, recycling of textiles... [Pg.199]

Heavy metals are transferred into the heavy fractions or coke during coprocessing. It leads to the better ecological properties of co-processing products in comparison to visbreaking products... [Pg.387]

Ecology Due to the excellent properties of NMP the process has a better ecological fingerprint than competing BD extraction technologies. [Pg.89]

Better ecological balance through saving resources during iteration cycles 6.3. Data Requirements... [Pg.2517]

Assessmoits of the Mater-Bi bag and the multipurpose PE bag show that both can be regarded as equivalent, as long as the focus remains on production and disposal (disregarding compostable waste incineration). If the compostable waste that is incinerated with the PE bags is taken into account, the Mater-Bi bag offers a better ecological value. The production and disposal of the paper bag is bound to cause considerably more damage to the environment than that of the Mater-Bi bag (Table 1). [Pg.378]

Better economy could include widening the fields of application for known high performance pigments by giving the customer enhanced value-in-use. And better ecology is today s task for industry as a whole, and is self-evident. [Pg.9]

MLC enables to analyse drugs and active phamiaceutical substances without using special column and lai ge quantity of organic solvents. So, from the point of view of pharmaceutical analysis ecology and green chemistry conception, assay with MLC using will be better than conventional reversed-phase chromatography. [Pg.390]

An academy of physicians that promotes a better understanding of ecologic illness and seeks methods for controlling such illness. Studies and treats people with illnesses or health problems caused by adverse, allergic or toxic reactions to a wide variety of environmental substances. [Pg.277]

The flocculation activity of polymers increases with increasing molecular weight. Linear macromolecules are better flocculents than branched ones with the same total molecular weight. In the future the largest growth of polymer applications is expected to be in waste and water treatment, because of ecological problems. [Pg.71]

With improvements in scientific knowledge and related technology, there is an expectation that more environmentally friendly pesticides will continue to be introduced, and that ecotoxicity testing procedures will become more sophisticated. There is much interest in the introduction of better testing procedures that work to more ecologically relevant end points than the lethal toxicity tests that are still widely used. Such a development should be consistent with the aims of organizations such as FRAME and ECVAM, which seek to reduce toxicity testing with animals. Mechanistic biomarker assays have the potential to be an important part of... [Pg.328]

Colorimetry. Laboratory data on the persistence of biocides formulated in glutaraldehyde and acrolein are available [1260]. A colorimetric general aldehyde detection method based on m-phenylenediamine was used. Such studies follow the demand for better understanding of ecologic systems in the aspect of environmental protection. [Pg.69]

The biosphere includes ecological niches where microbes peacefully co-exist with their eukaryotic host in the human this includes the concept of the micro-biome [14], which is defined as the totality of microbial organisms that co-habit with human beings. On the other hand, microbial colonization of human mucosal surfaces or prosthetic devices, often results in the development of biofilms, with significant deleterious effects on human health [15]. These are some of the challenges in infectious diseases that reflect the need to maximally utilize genomic sequence information and related sciences to better control microbial disease in human populations, and to develop anti-microbial agents with a better therapeutic index. [Pg.14]
