Apart from the promising electrochemical properties that will be exhaustively discussed through this chapter, carbon nanotubes have become a hot research topic due to their outstanding electronic, mechanical, thermal, optical and chemical properties and their biocompatibility. Many, perhaps most, of recent (since 1980), utility-scale BESSs are presented in Table 10.1. For each BESS, details are given of the location, rated capacity, principle applications, and date of installation.
