Basket form

In these ions the heteroatoms are situated inside cavities or baskets formed by MOg octahedra of the parent M atoms and are bonded to oxygen atoms of the adjacent MOg octahedra. The stereochemistry of the heteroatom is determined by the shape of the cavity which in turn depends on the ratio of the number of heteroatoms to parent atoms. Three major and a number of minor classes are found. [Pg.1014]

The heterocyclic derivative (XXII), exhibits the basket form in the solid state, but variable temperature NMR data were not reported (367). The room temperature NMR data associated with the 6,11-protons are a function of the substituent on the N-atom, and the more complex spectrum with an acetyl functional group may imply a locking effect similar to that observed for the azepine derivative. [Pg.239]

The centrifuge is a horizontal basket designed to operate so that the cake formed on the screen is pushed as an increment from the loading end of the basket to the discharge end by a pusher plate operating on a timed cycle. On completion, the nitrocellulose cake is discharged into water in a slurry tub on a lower floor, and purified by conventional procedures. [Pg.14]

The electrolyte is prepared by dipping granulated lead, suspended in a basket, into and out of the fluosUicic acid. The lead oxidizes during the operation and lead fluosUicate is formed ... [Pg.47]

Lead alloys containing small amounts of calcium aie formed by plunging a basket containing a 77 or 75% calcium—23—25% A1 alloy into a molten lead bath or by stirring the Ca—A1 alloy into a vortex created by a mixing impeUor (19). [Pg.402]

Since the 1960s titanium mesh anode baskets have been used (21), especially in nickel plating solutions. Nickel anodes in the form of small round buttons and pellets combined with the titanium anode basket allows a constant anode area to be maintained with a minimum of effort. [Pg.147]

The heai4 of an adsorbent wheel system is a rotating cyhnder containing the adsorbent. Figure 16-55 illustrates two types horizontal and vertical. In some adsorbent wheels, the adsorbent particles are placed in basket segments (a multitude of fixed beds) to form a hori-... [Pg.1553]

Link-Suspended Basket Centrifuges In centrifuges with diameters larger than 762 mm (30 in), the basket, curb, curb cover, and drive form a rigid assembly flexibly suspended from three fixed posts (also known as a three-column centrifuge). The three suspension members may be either chain hnks or stiff rods in ball-and-socket joints and are spring-loaded. The suspended assembly has restrained freedom to oscillate to compensate for a normal out-of-balance condition. The drive is vertical with more efficient power transmission compared to the base-bearing type. [Pg.1735]

Filtration Rate When the centrifuge cake is submerged in a pool of liquid (Fig. 18-139Z ), as in the case of a fast-sedimenting, sohds-forming cake almost instantly, and the rate of filtration becomes limiting, the bulk filtration rate Q for a basket with axial length b is ... [Pg.1740]

The catalyst should be the copper-based United Catalyst T-2370 in 3/16 , reduced and stabilized, in extrudate form. Initially, 26.5 g of this should be charged to the catalyst basket. This catalyst is not for methanol synthesis but for the low temperature shift reaction of converting CO to CO2 with steam. At the given conditions it will make methanol at commercial production rates. Somewhat smaller quantity of catalyst can also be used with proportionally cut feed rates to save feed gas. [Pg.83]

The alkaline version of the Mn02 / zinc cell follows a different concept because it turns the construction of the Leclanche cell completely around now the cathode (Mn02 + carbon) forms a hollow cylinder contacting the inner wall of the cell container (steel) along its outer surface. The inner cavity has to accommodate anode, electrolyte, separator, and current collector. Usually, the separator forms a basket, which is automatically inserted and pre-... [Pg.200]

The smallest cooling systems may simply be treated with filming amines in the form of slowly dissolving waxy blocks that are suspended in baskets, whereas larger or more difficult systems employ feed and control systems to dispense liquid products containing diamine acetates in an alcohol-water solvent system. [Pg.540]

A pyrotechnic igniter consists of a basket of inorganic combustible materials, such as boron-potassium nitrate, which are usually in the form of pellets. This basket is also filled with a squib which provides a means of initiating the igniter. [Pg.23]

Iron porphyrins (containing TPP, picket fence porphyrin, or a basket handle porphyrin) catalyzed the electrochemical reduction of CO2 to CO at the Fe(I)/Fe(0) wave in DMF, although the catalyst was destroyed after a few cycles. Addition of a Lewis acid, for example Mg , dramatically improved the rate, the production of CO, and the stability of the catalyst. The mechanism was proposed to proceed by reaction of the reduced iron porphyrin Fe(Por)] with COi to form a carbene-type intermediate [Fe(Por)=C(0 )2, in which the presence of the Lewis acid facilitates C—O bond breaking. " The addition of a Bronsted acid (CF3CH2OH, n-PrOH or 2-pyrrolidone) also results in improved catalyst efficiency and lifetime, with turnover numbers up to. 750 per hour observed. ... [Pg.258]

Laboratory reactor for studying three-phase processes can be divided in reactors with mobile and immobile catalyst particles. Bubble (suspension) column reactors, mechanically stirred tank reactors, ebullated-bed reactors and gas-lift reactors belong the class of reactors with mobile catalyst particles. Fixed-bed reactors with cocurrent (trickle-bed reactor and bubble columns, see Figs. 5.4-7 and 5.4-8 in Section 5.4.1) or countercurrent (packed column, see Fig. 5.4-8) flow of phases are reactors with immobile catalyst particles. A mobile catalyst is usually of the form of finely powdered particles, while coarser catalysts are studied when placing them in a fixed place (possibly moving as in mechanically agitated basket-type reactors). [Pg.301]
