Assembly flexibility

Link-Suspended Basket Centrifuges In centrifuges with diameters larger than 762 mm (30 in), the basket, curb, curb cover, and drive form a rigid assembly flexibly suspended from three fixed posts (also known as a three-column centrifuge). The three suspension members may be either chain hnks or stiff rods in ball-and-socket joints and are spring-loaded. The suspended assembly has restrained freedom to oscillate to compensate for a normal out-of-balance condition. The drive is vertical with more efficient power transmission compared to the base-bearing type. [Pg.1735]

Tail Fuze M190 is an inertial type consisting of a fuze-body assembly, arming assembly, flexible shaft, and arming-vane assembly. Its cylindrical body of 1.5-inches diam and 6.89-in length is threaded externally for assembly to the fuze adapter of... [Pg.988]

Within the German public funded project p.PRO.CHEM, a concept for a continuously operated modularly assembled flexible pilot plants for highly exothermic two-phase liquid-liquid or gas-liquid reactions will be developed and validated [48]. The plant features process intensifying microprocess technologies. A goal of the project is the demonstration of the technical and economic feasibility of the plant concept on pilot scale with selected model processes. [Pg.246]

All the developments described above form the Li-ion technology of today, which, due to its assembly flexibility and performance, ( 210 Wh/kg and 800 Wh/L) which has doubled in 20 years, have conquered several markets. However, with regard to the evolution of this technology, we must ensiire that it is also a success for electronic vehicles, hence the need to identify the critical points for this application. [Pg.27]

An outstanding example of a branching pathway exploited complementary cyclisation reactions to yield alternative molecular scaffolds (Scheme 1.5). A four-component Petasis condensation reaction was used to assemble flexible cyclisation precursors e.g. 14). Alternative cyclisation reactions were then used to yield products with distinct molecular scaffolds Pd-catalysed cyclisation (- 15a) enyne metathesis (- 15b) Ru-catalysed cycloheptatriene formation (- 15c) Au-catalysed cyclisation of the alcohol onto the alkyne (- 15d) base-induced cyclisation (- 15e) Pauson-Khand reaction 15f) and Miesenheimer [ 2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement (not shown). Four of these cyclisation reactions could be used again to convert the enyne 15e into molecules with four further scaffolds (17a-d). In addition, Diels Alder reactions with 4-methyl-l,2,4-triazoline-3,5-dione converted the dienes 15b, 17a and 17d... [Pg.10]

Such flexibility allows tliese materials to be stmcturally characterized and tlien assembled into a wide variety of configurations for furtlier experiments. [Pg.2900]

A powerful stirrer, driven by a flexible driving shaft between the motor (I h.p.) and the stirrer, is depicted in Fig. II, 7, 3. The motor may be placed at a distance from the stirrer head and reaction vessel, thus enabling the assembly to be used for inflammable, corrosive or fuming liquids without damage to the motor. Furthermore, any laboratory retort stand and clamp may be used since the stirrer head weighs only about 250 grams. A variable speed control (500-2000 r.p.m.) is provided. [Pg.63]

The bowl is suspended from an upper bearing and drive (electric or turbine motor) assembly through a flexible-drive spindle with a loose guide in a controlled damping assembly at the bottom. The unit finds its axis of rotation if it becomes slightly unbalanced due to process load. [Pg.1730]

The capsids of polyoma virus and the related SV40 have icosahedral symmetry, with 72 pentameric assemblies of the major capsid protein. The pentamers are linked to their neighbors by flexible arms, with a p strand that augments a p sheet in the invaded pentamer. These flexible arms allow the pentamers to be linked together with both fivefold and sixfold symmetry. [Pg.344]
