Bartlett studied the photolysis of the azo compound 20 with ESR spectroscopy 35>. A triplet ESR signal could be detected at low temperature, which is thought to be due to a triplet radical pair 20. Since the discovery of the first noble gas compound, Xe PtF (Bartlett, 1962), a number of compounds of krypton, xenon, and radon have been prepared.
