Bandwidth connection

A coaxial connector system, used for high-bandwidth connections in electronics. [Pg.1]

The massively parallel approach adopted in the Connection Machine has been termed data parallel. Whereas a uniprocessor must sequentially step through large amounts of data, a data parallel machine moves processors to the data. Aggregate memory to processor bandwidth in the Connection Machine is more than 700 megabytes per second. [Pg.97]

In contrast, an Internet-based connection (as with CU-SeeMe) has to share bandwidth with other Internet data, which may cause audio clipping or delays as well as jerky video [14]. [Pg.602]

Currently, KARMA is in the prototyping phase. Although the hardware is connected via the high bandwidth network, it is necessary to implement the servers for data communications. Additionally, a completely new graphics package is in development for karma. The next two steps in terms of development are the turnkey and production versions of karma. [Pg.157]

Effect of Injection Volume. Table II shows the effect of injection volume on peak broadening and measured column efficiency. The bandwidths listed in Table II are due to injection volume alone, and were measured using an injector connected directly into the flowcell of a low-bandwidth detector. The plate reductions were then calculated for a 24,000 plate column, such as that represented by the bottom line of Table I, assuming 5 and 10 ml, respectively, for exclusion and total permeation volumes. Efficiencies of 23,000 plates at exclusion and 25,000 plates at permeation were actually measured for the column indicated in Table II. The effect of large injection volumes is thus to lose 25 to 50% of the potential column efficiency. [Pg.195]

S. A. Rice To answer the question by Prof. Gerber, I should emphasize that the key element of the Brumer-Shapiro scheme is the exploitation of interference between two pathways connecting the same initial and iinal states. Unless the excitation sources connect the same initial and final states, and not different ones for the two pathways, the interference effect is compromised. The use of short laser pulses for the two excitation pathways has the potential disadvantage of providing bandwidth for the excitation of other pathways in addition to the desired pathways hence the pulse must be kept long enough to avoid this possibility. [Pg.284]

The NEP may be written in terms of the detector element active area, the number of detector pixels elements connected for additive output the electronic noise bandwidth B and the detector element detectivity, D. Typically np = 1, but may be increased for improved sensitivity with an attendant loss in resolution. [Pg.291]

The first approach that need to be more precisely evaluated is the use of non-uniform filter banks [Petersen and Boll, 1981, Valiere, 1991], especially if they are applied in connection with perceptual criteria. Indeed, non-uniform filter banks allow a frequency dependent specification of the time-resolution/bandwidth compromise which could be adapted to the known features of our hearing system. The results of section 4.16 show that a high frequency-resolution is needed anyway, at least in the lower part of the spectrum, to ensure a sufficient separation of sinusoidal signal components from the noise. [Pg.104]

Because of their obvious advantages personal computers are used in all kinds of organizations and for a wide variety of applications. Accessibility and cost are comparable with a dialog terminal connected to a multi-user computer system. The main advantages, however, can be seen in the wealth of high-quality software products that are available today, and in the comfort of high I/O- bandwidth between CPU and display screen allowing for instantaneous updates of the screen s contents. [Pg.178]
