Air cleaning systems are often used to remove dust or vapors from plant or process exhaust streams. Dust collecting systems such as filters or electrostatic precipitators that handle heavy loads of dust are usually designed to be self-cleaning, but it is stiU. necessary to enter the air cleaner periodically for inspection or repair. Dust deposits inside the equipment are likely to be stirred up and inhaled by unprotected workers. Baghouses are particularly likely to cause exposure because large amounts of dust may be retained in the cloth and released when the bags are handled. 

With few exceptions, thermoplastics are marketed in the form of pellets. They are shipped in containers of various sizes, from 25-kg bags to railroad hopper cars. Resins are conveyed to silos for storage and from there to the processing equipment. Colored resins are available, but frequentiy it is more convenient and economical to buy uncolored resins and blend them with color concentrates. Using concentrates avoids handling dusty pigments and ensures uniform color distribution.

A fork-lift truck will be used to take the pallets from the packaging area to the warehouse. Two trucks will be needed to keep pace with the automatic bagging equipment. If 2 each are used for storing cartons and drums, 1 for handling raw materials, and 5 for loading railroad cars and trucks, a total of 12 will be required.
