Social life attitude

In Assyria, Cannabis sativa was used both in rituals and as a medicine [9], From the records available, these two uses are difficult to distinguish. Indeed it is probably impossible for man today to comprehend fully the attitudes of an ancient population towards drugs and their associations with beliefs, religion, superstitions and social life and interactions. [Pg.160]

Regular exercise increases balance and poise and gives you a greater feeling of control and self-confidence. It improves your appearance and your attitude. It keeps you socially active, involved in life, and mentally fit. [Pg.140]

This chapter provides a comprehensive view of the social contacts and relationships that tourists may experience. These social interactions are a consequence of the active role of the tourist as an outsider, as a stranger, and as an observer of life. The tourists social relationships are also a product of the organisation of much contemporary travel as well as the attitudes and perspectives of other travellers and the community members that tourists meet. [Pg.116]

Our denial of the truth of what is issuing from the pharmaceutical and chemical companies will perhaps bury our race for not only are they sucking the health out of people but they are polluting the environment to the point where the ice will melt and the temperatures will sore. Denial is the principle weapon of evil and is essentially the attitude that takes us away from life. On all levels denial works powerfully in our minds and the cost is usually high in personal terms but in social terms it spells disaster. There have already been many revelations and scandals about the darker side of medical science that should have seriously damaged our trust in scientists and government institutions. It is my hope that the information provided herein will destroy all trust and... [Pg.2]

The treatment of chemistry within the formal educational system is addressed in the other chapters in this section. Until the solutions proposed there are widely implemented, the provision of opportunities for informal chemical education will be the main way of changing negative attitudes. Such attempts are necessary because of the major significance of chemical ideas for personal, social, and cultural life we take up the issue of justification at the end of this chapter. [Pg.144]

Real-life assessments may involve more social interaction and issues of comphance and reactivity (i.e., method-dependent artifacts) and other sources of unwanted variance. Behavior assessment at the workplace is not entirely naturalistic because the participants usually know that recordings are made. Furthermore, they may also be aware of the specific hypothesis under investigation or assume motives and intentions (Christie Todd, 1975 Rosenthal Rosnow, 1969). Such attitudes and attribution processes may affect the compliance and reactivity or may even lead to reactance (i.e., defensive and uncooperative behavior). On the other hand, participants may be especially interested in such recordirrgs. [Pg.113]

The close-knit nature of Palestinian society has kept the towns traditions ahve throughout the history. The social conservatism of the Palestinians contributes to women s privacy. For example, men avoid entering to and gazing at women s settings without permission or a prior announcement. They do this for both rehgious reasons and because of social traditiore In addition, people s emphasis on social rules that influence women s privacy based on religion and tradition is stated explicitly. Because of the importance attributed to women s privacy in the life of Palestinian society, these values influence Palestinians attitudes toward their physical environment. [Pg.211]
