It expects that the motors don t have enough mass or velocity to damage the 7.5-cm-thick inner chamber walls, let alone the 7.5-cm-thick outer chamber walls. The vendor has stated that if future testing or calculations show that the issue is real, one solution is to make two cuts the first to separate the motor from the warhead and the second cut between the forward closure and the propellant to remove the former. If the forward closure is either removed from the motor or is ejected, the Engineering Assessment Attachment of the UXB International 2007 report states .. . the case pressure will fall to the ambient (or nearly so), which will drop the burning rate to low values and cause the motor to be non-propulsive (UXB International, 2007, p. 365). 

No method has been devised to estimate with complete accuracy the amount of cmde petroleum that ultimately will be produced from the world s conventional oil and gas fields. Degrees of uncertainty, therefore, should be attached to all such estimates. These uncertainties can be expressed in several ways, the most important of which is achieved by dividing a resource into various categories. Several petroleum resources classifications have been proposed, and a comprehensive discussion of them (1), as well as the definition used in the assessment of the undiscovered resources of the United States (2), have been provided. Seven commonly used categories of resources are given here. 

After 40 yr of intensive research is it now time to assess the directions followed and what we have accomplished, time to recognize that we need to pose new questions and need fundamentally new probes to understand shock-compressed matter, and to critically examine the fundamental assumptions, implicit and explicit, that we have employed Is it now time for a paradigm shift to a more realistic, if more complex, description of shock-compressed matter Can we continue to view shock-compressed matter as an analog to a static high pressure that happens to be achieved in a short time and has a large thermal component attached ... 

Competence assessment is also required if workers are assigned to new areas of work. In the offshore industry, considerable importance is being attached to the issue of demonstrating competence, following the recommendations of the inquiry that followed the Piper Alpha disaster. 

Attachment 3.1 Selected Slides from Executive Summary of the Assessment of Existing Systems for Xmple, Inc. 

In this study detailed fault trees with probability and failure rate calculations were generated for the events (1) Fatality due to Explosion, Fire, Toxic Release or Asphyxiation at the Process Development Unit (PDU) Coal Gasification Process and (2) Loss of Availability of the PDU. The fault trees for the PDU were synthesized by Design Sciences, Inc., and then subjected to multiple reviews by Combustion Engineering. The steps involved in hazard identification and evaluation, fault tree generation, probability assessment, and design alteration are presented in the main body of this report. The fault trees, cut sets, failure rate data and unavailability calculations are included as attachments to this report. Although both safety and reliability trees have been constructed for the PDU, the verification and analysis of these trees were not completed as a result of the curtailment of the demonstration plant project. Certain items not completed for the PDU risk and reliability assessment are listed. 

The application of NMR spectroscopy to tacticity determination of synthetic polymers was pioneered by Bovey and Tiers.9 NMR spectroscopy is the most used method and often the only technique available for directly assessing tacticity of polymer chains. "2 7 8 0JI The chemical shift of a given nucleus in or attached to the chain may be sensitive to the configuration of centers three or more monomer units removed. Other forms of spectroscopy (e.g. TR spectroscopy l2 lJ) are useful with some polymers and various physical properties (e.g. the Kerr effect14) may also be correlated with tacticity. 

Apples were chopped and mashed to a fine puree. Apple mash was treated with enzyme preparation and incubated for 2 hours at 55°C. Viscosity of mash was measured several times using a Brookfield DC3 viscometer with Helipath stand attachment and TD spindle. After two hours of incubation sanple was coitriftig for 20 minutes at 10.000 rpm. Volume, clarity, pH and brix of the juices were measured. The pectin level of the juices was assessed by a standard alcohol test. 

Secondly, knowledge of the estimation variance E [P(2c)-P (2c)] falls short of providing the confidence Interval attached to the estimate p (3c). Assuming a normal distribution of error In the presence of an Initially heavily skewed distribution of data with strong spatial correlation Is not a viable answer. In the absence of a distribution of error, the estimation or "krlglng variance o (3c) provides but a relative assessment of error the error at location x Is likely to be greater than that at location 2 " if o (2c)>o (2c ). Iso-varlance maps such as that of Figure 1 tend to only mimic data-posltlon maps with bull s-eyes around data locations.

In common with some other authors (18-20), Napper removed excess stabilizer from the dispersion medium so as to give the dispersed particles full surface coverage, leaving negligible amounts of free polymer in solution. As the solvency was worsened, no more polymer could be adsorbed, so that critical flocculation conditions do not necessarily correspond to surface saturation. In the present work, which may refer more closely with some practical applications, the stabilizer is kept at the plateau adsorption level but at the expense of complicating the system by the presence of free polymer. Clarke and Vincent (21) have reported on the effect of free polystyrene on the stability of silica with terminally-attached sytrene chains, but the very considerable differences to our studies make an assessment of the possible role played by unadsorbed polymer unproductive. 

Structure determinations of secondary metal alkyl complexes are relatively rare, yet they provide an opportunity to assess interactions of the metal with the /3-atoms of the alkyl. The angles (excluding hydrogen) about C(24) all exceed 109°, ranging from 111.7° to 115.1°. There is no evidence for any Re 0 interaction (compare V), this distance exceeding 3 A. Both the /3-carbon, C(25), and its attached hydrogens are over 3 A from rhenium. The hydrogen on the a-carbon, C(24J, is 2.76 A from rhenium.
