Following our integrated and simultaneously open architectural approach, we look at every innovation process and project as a system built of objects and classes of objects. 

If you reread the above, keeping in mind what was said about the architectural and engineering approaches in the section on detail design, you will realize that the negatives of the general contractor approach are minimized if the project lends itself to the architectural approach, and are maximized on a project that needs the engineering approach. 

DOE has evaluated two different architectural approaches for ITM-based oxygen separation, planar and tubular however, engineering scale-up of the planar approach is currently being pursued. The planar design allows desired gas phase mass transfer and is amenable to standard ceramic processing technologies. 

In the preceding section, we described two architectural approaches for organizing functions related to shop-floor schedtrUng control. One of the most important of these functions is schedttUng. Another chapter reported on two major approaches to solving these problems mathematical programming and heuristics. In this chapter, we describe a number of AI (artificial intelligence) techniques. 

Section 3.4 Functional Analysis. Includes a description of the approach and methods planned to determine lower-level fimctions, to allocate performance and other limiting requirements to lower-level functions, to define functional interfaces, and to define the functional architecture. Approaches and methods for the quality factors and engineering specialty areas in Section 3.2 are also defined. 

The last case we would like to highlight is when partial simulations are already available (such as e.g. the EPS and SCADA). Here an integration, as proposed in the High Level Architecture Approach, could provide a powerful framework to integrate existing (and potentially very powerful) tools.

EMC is up to now the largest ARTEMIS AIPP with EMC2 bundling the power for innovation of 97 partners from embedded industry and research from 19 European countries and Israel with an effort of about 800 person years and a total budget of about 100 million Euro. It started April 2014. The objective of the EMC project is to develop an innovative and sustainable service-oriented architecture approach for mixed criticality applications in dynamic and changeable real-time environments. 

Finally another conceptual model is a system model, which describes and represents the structure, behavior, and more views of a system. A system model can represent multiple views of a system by using two different approaches. The first one is the non-architectural approach and the second one is the architectural approach. The non-architectural approach respectively picks a model for each view. The architectural approach, also known as system architecture, instead of picking many heterogeneous and unrelated models, it uses only one integrated architectural model. 

From an electrochemical point of view, the recent developments in silicate science are somewhat different from older ones. The electrochemical community is more eager to embrace and put to use recent advancements in silicate and sol-gel science. Simply put, today many more electrochemists are familiar with sol-gel processing, and the availability of comprehensive and rapidly updated reviews in the field makes sol-gel and silicate know-how readily available for potential users. In addition, sol-gel tools are most amenable to modem nanotechnology with its bottom-np architectural approaches. This also holds true for electrochemistry, which broadens and diversifies the scientific community engaged in and contributing to sol-gel electrochemistry.
