Applications floor repair

Wastewater generation can be reduced by general good housekeeping procedures such as substituting dry cleanup methods for water washdowns of equipment and floors. This is especially applicable for situations where liquid or solid materials have been spilled. Flow measuring devices and pH sensors with automatic alarms to detect process upsets are two of many ways to effect reductions in water use. Prompt repair and replacement of faulty equipment can also reduce wastewater losses. 

Floor polishes typically are evaluated for gloss, application and leveling properties, discoloration, slip resistance, scratch resistance, heel-mark resistance, scuff resistance, damp-mopping and detergent resistance, repairability, lack of sediment, and removability (3). Recoatability and formula stability are also important. A review of test methods is available (35). More than 20 ASTM test methods for floor polishes exist. From the standpoint of product safety, slip resistance is a particularly important variable and many test methods are available (39). 

In this book I have confined discussion to those polymeric materials which are cured by chemical reaction and which have found widespread application in the construction industry. As such, the book covers materials based on epoxies, polyurethanes, silicones, polysulphides, alkyds and polyesters. In addition, there is a chapter on hybrid polymer systems and one on acrylics. It is true that acrylic emulsions are not strictly thermosetting polymer systems, but their widespread use and importance made their exclusion difficult. These materials find use as coatings, sealants, adhesives, grouts, flooring compounds, repair compounds and waterproofing agents. 

Aliphatic amines are used principally in civil engineering applications such as in patch repair systems, adhesives, floorings, high solid coatings and grouts.

Application of the hot asphalt on a floor (or other horizontal flat surface) is by pouring the material on the surface and spreading it with a squeegee-usually wood, and approximately 18 in. long. Observe workmanship carefully to be certain the mechanic is providing a glassy, smooth and pinhole and bubble (or blister) free surface. If there are bubbles or blisters in the membrane, the job must be stopped until they have been removed and the membrane repaired. (See the section on Asphalt for procedure.)...

Construction uses such as flooring, paving, and airport runway repair. 

Literature provided by the manufacturers suggests that Biodentine can be used for various applications, not only for pulp capping but also for other endodontic applications, such as repair of pulp chamber floor perforations and of lateral root perforations [95]. It can also be used for indirect pulp capping and to line deep carious lesions. However, to date systanatic smdies are lacking, and there is only limited evidence of clinical success of Biodentine in these applications. Early published results are promising, but more work is necessary before a definitive opinion on this material is possible [95]. 

Chance When faced with repairing this floor, you feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of unstructured information. There is no transparency in the market. But if you cannot form your own opinion, you are dependent on people you trust, or else you are at the mercy of chance, e g. whatever colourful brochures the postman happens to deliver to your desk. Nobody tells you that there are only a small number of floor applicators that have been on the market for more than ten years. Specialist firms come and go if they are not well managed, or if they are unlucky...

The polymer mortars with SF were tested by Ohama et al. (1989) in view of their application for industrial floors, decorative coatings and repair of concrete structures. The results were interesting and have shown different influence of SF, that is, an increase of compressive strength and resistance to water permeation and penetration of chloride ions, but no improvements have been observed of resistance to water absorption, carbonation and drying shrinkage. Also, adhesion of the composite to covered concrete surfaces was not increased.
