Anodyne

This cement has retained its popularity to this day, despite its poor mechanical properties, because it is easy to use - it makes no demands on technique - is tolerant towards living tissues and is a palliative or anodyne. It is unlikely to be replaced, because, fortuitously, it is formed from two medicaments and, again fortuitously, is a sustained release agent for eugenol. 

Membrane Morphology—Pores, Symmetric, Composite Only nucleopore and anodyne membranes have relatively uniform pores. Reverse osmosis, gas permeation, and pervaporation membranes have nonuniform angstrom-sized pores corresponding to spaces in between the rigid or agamic membrane molecules. Solute-membrane molecular interactions are very high. Ultrafiltration membranes have nonuniform nanometer sized pores with some solute-membrane interactions. For other microfiltration membranes with nonuniform pores on the submicrometer to micrometer range, solute-membrane interactions are small. 

The roots are used as an astringent, resolving anodyne and antidotal. It is also used to heal abscesses, assuage postpartum pain, and remove parasites from the skin. The plant was mentioned by Schimmel in the American Journal of Pharmacy in 1889. Clinical observation and pharmacological investigation of the sedative and hypnotic effects of the Chinese drug rhizome and root of Patrinia scabiosaefolia are discussed by Luo (43). 

Jamaica. Hot water extract of the flower, leaf, and twig is taken orally as an antispas-modic and anodyne . Hot water extract of the resin is taken orally for diabetes " " . Mexico. The aerial parts are smoked as a hallucinogen " " . 

United States. Fluidextract of the inflorescence is taken orally as a narcotic, antispas-modic, analgesic, and aphrodisiac " . Hot water extract of the flowering top is taken orally as a potent antispasmodic, anodyne, and narcotic. One teaspoon of plant material is steeped in 2 cups of boiling water, and 1 tablespoonful is taken two to four times a day " ". The dried aerial parts are smoked by both sexes as an aphrodisiac " . 

It acts by slow liberation of iodine and has both antiseptic and local anodyne properties. It is used in the form of paste which contains tannic acid, phenol, eugenol (clove oil), cirmamon oil and glycerine.

Treat pain of rheumatism. 

Anemone cemua Thunb. A. pulsatilla A. pulsatilla var. chinensis Bunge. Bai Tu Own (Pulsatila) (root) Saponins, protoanemonin.49 A cardiac and nervous system sedative, antispasmodic, anodyne in asthma and pulmonary infections, antidiarrheic.

Hepatica asiatica Nakai Xi Shin (Liver leaf) (root) No information is available in the literature. Anodyne, antifebrile, for angina and sunstroke, local application in smallpox ulcerations. 

Lactuca raddeana Maxim. L. indica L. L. sativa L. Shan Wo Ju (Lettuce) (seed) Pectic compound, oxalic acid, malic acid, citric acid, ceryl alcohol, ergosterol, vitamin E.50 Anodyne, lactogogue, for genital swelling, hemorrhoids, lumbago. 

Ligusticum jeholense (Nakai et Kitag.) Nakai et Kitag. L. pyrenacum Couan. L. sinense Oliv. L. tenuissimum (Nakai) Kitag. Gao Ben (root) Nothosmymol, coumarin, chromone, polyacetylene.33-259 Induce diaphoresis, for gout, an anodyne, emmenagogue, sedative. 

Melaleuca leucadendra L. Bai Qian Ceng (Cajeput) (leaf) Cajuputol, cineole, eucalyptol, lignin, melaleucin, pinene, terpinol, 1-limonene, dipentene, nerolidiol, sesquiterpenes, azulene, sesquiterpene alcohols, valeraldehyde, benzaldehyde, betulinic acid, oleanolic acid, ursolic acid, quercimeritrin, isoquercitrin, gallic acid.50 Treat dropsy, oil is for gout, inhaled to treat colds, rhinitis, embrocation against rheumatism. When it excites, the first symptoms are heat, thirst, absence of mind, and sometimes headache and... 

Other treatment5 is determined by the symptoms, stimulants being necessary in cases of collapse or anodynes if the nervous condition so requires small quantities of iced water for the intense thirst castor oil and milk if diarrhoea is ineffectual and painful. The patient needs to be kept warm and hot blankets should be applied to the feet and abdomen.
