Amine properties

In the previous analysis for the second quadrant amines, there was evidence that the presence of an aromatic ring (BzAM) increased competition with the deactivating intermediate(s) and significantly the amount of DHQ obtained. The study was thus extended to other aromatic amines aniline (AN), 2-ethylaniline (2-ETAN), 3-ethylaniline (3-ETAN) and N-ethylaniline (N-ETAN). These amines are not classified in the literature analysis of amine properties (16), although aniline and pyridine were studied by statistical analysis of their solvent properties and classified in the same sector (16). By analogy, we hypothesize that these model aromatic amines should be classified in the second sector. Thus, they may aid in an understanding of the specific role of the aromatic ring and the effect of an alkyl substituent. [Pg.106]

Piperazine (539 Z=NH) and morpholine (539 Z = 0) show typical aliphatic secondary amine properties, but their pKa values, 9.8 and 8.4, respectively (cf. piperidine pKa 11.2), reflect the inductive effect of the second heteroatom. [Pg.247]

By contrast, Kon (54MI3) deduced from LCAO MO calculations that these anomalous amine properties are not due to tautomerism and that aminodiazaazulenes indeed exist. In any case, pyrazole 578 (Scheme 154) seems to have the amine structure [83H(20)9]. As regards dimethylamino-azaazulenes, the contribution of mesomeric zwitterionic forms like 579 is assumed (68BCJ2102 77BCJ1184). [Pg.376]

Removal of carbon dioxide (natural gas sweetening) increases the calorific value and transportability of the natural gas stream. Carbon dioxide content in the natural gas obtained from the gas or oil well can vary from 4% to 50%. It has to be reduced down to ca. 2%-5%. This goal is typically achieved by means of absorption with an aqueous alkanolamine solution that has as main drawback the tendency to corrode equipment and to lose amine properties by... [Pg.80]

An unusual formation of furans 155 (together with the corresponding pyrroles 156) was observed when compound 154 was treated with two equivalents of primary amine. Ratio of products depends on amine properties. Thus, if the amine acts as a base, the reaction proceeds via the intermediate enolate and an intramolecular Michael addition/fluoride elimination sequence. Further nucleophilic displacement of the ethylsulfanyl group gives 3-carboxamide furans 155. If the amine acts as a nucleophile, a Michael addition/elimination followed by an intramolecular condensation leads to the corresponding pyrrole 156 via the enaminone [112, 113]. [Pg.199]
