DNA plasmid-based treatment ( gene therapy ) is considered an alternative to the one based on classical chemical drugs or proteins recovered from recombinant cells. Treatment of acquired and inherent genetic diseases as well as the use of DNA for the purpose of vaccination are potential applications of plasmid DNA (pDNA). The plasmid carries information that allows protein expression in the targeted human cells as well as eukaryotic regulatory elements and specific prokaryotic sequences that control replication in the host cell, see Fig. 10. Formulation is required for ex- or in-vivo administration. Selected systems for gene expression can be viral or non-viral.

The calculation setup screens list a good selection of the options that are most widely used. However, it is not a complete list. The user also chooses which queue to use on the remote machine and can set queue resource limits. All of this is turned into a script with queue commands and the job input file. The user can edit this script manually before it is run. Once the job is submitted, the inputs are transferred to the server machine, the job is run and the results can be sent back to the local machine. The server can be configured to work with an NQS queue system. The system administrator and users have a reasonable amount of control in configuring how the jobs are run and where files are stored. The administrator should look carefully at this configuration and must consider where results will be sent in the case of a failed job or network outage.

If the patent appHcation is allowed based on an appHcant s response to the second office action, examination is ended. However, if the patent examiner advises the patent appHcant that the rejections will be maintained and the appHcant views these rejections as insurmountable, the patent appHcant may choose to abandon the patent appHcation. Although the antibacterial spectmm is similar for many of the sulfas, chemical modifications of the parent molecule have produced compounds with a variety of absorption, metaboHsm, tissue distribution, and excretion characteristics. The lines of communication that were established in the toller selection phase can be formalized in the contract stage.
