The availability of a wide array of fluorescent probes and versatile, high-speed instruments has established flow cytometry as a preferred scientific tool with apphcations that seem hmited only by the imagination of the investigator. Excellent discussions of the theory and practice of flow cytometry may be found in the reviews cited herein, in the comprehensive textbook by Shapiro (2003), and at a dedicated web site for flow cytometry (Purdue University Cytometry Laboratories, 2005, http //www.cyto.purdue.edu/), which provides many useful links to additional technical resources. [Pg.319]

Below is a list and brief description of a very few of the more detailed web sites and references. Each chapter has additional specific resources and references, while those below are more general in nature. [Pg.8]

To find additional online resources that can help you write your resume, find job opportunities, apply for jobs online, gather company or industry research, network with people in your field, or learn more about a specific profession, visit any of the popular Web search engines and choose keywords or search phrases you think will help you find the specific information for which you re looking. [Pg.220]

Tjday most researchers wall turn first to the Web rather than to the local library. The Web is now a primary source for news stories and feature articles (even those also available in print). It is also often the first place to look for resources about a subject, such as topic guides, bibliographies, and lists of additional Web links. Summaries of ongoing research programs or forthcoming papers are often available online months ahead of print publication. [Pg.117]

Welcome to O fflLl, Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man. This database is a catalog of human genes and genetic disorders authored and edited by Dr. Victor A. McKusick and his colleagues at Johns Hopkins and elsewhere, and developed for the World Wide Web by NCBL the National Center for Biotechnology Information. The database contains textual information and references. It also contains copious links to MEDLINE and sequence records in the Entrez system, and links to additional related resources atNCBI and elsewhere. [Pg.500]

The companion CD-ROM provides additional learning resources such as sumniai notes, interactive computing modules, web modules, POLYMATH software to explore Tiviag example problems and ask what-if questions, and many more enrichment opportunities for both students and teachers. [Pg.971]

The following paragraphs will summarize TEHIP s free, web-based toxicological information resources. The individual databases of the TOXNET system will be described first. Descriptions of miscellaneous additional electronic resources available through TEHIP will follow. [Pg.2936]

Data manipulation software is an important component of data management systems. As well as a vital component of the build process of integrated data resources, they are used in their APIs and user interfaces. In addition, Web services and the workflow software provide a means of finking applications with data resources to create complex workflows. These workflows may be used by biologists as stand-alone analysis packages. Again, we present here a review of the most currently used packages rather than a comprehensive list. [Pg.397]

After the individual episode is downloaded (normally a process that can occur in the background, or if the files are big, overnight) the episode can be explored. Two types of content are allowed for an episode enhanced audio, and video. In the current iTunes implementation, the latter has no further metadata associated with it other than the timecode. Enhanced audio however has two components, an audio track and an associated artwork. Each separate artwork component is known as a chapter to the episode, and this can have further metadata such as a title and an associated link to another web resource. Unfortunately, this additional metadata is only viewable, and is not currently searchable. The artwork links can be for example to an article DOI, or to a Jmol page with 3D content or animation. An example is shown in Figure 7.8. [Pg.119]

An additional notable resource details homology relationships between human, mouse, and rat. Derived from a high-resolution RH maps, homologies for over 500 genes have been identified and are available in tabular format at a user-friendly Web site (Watanabe et al., 1999). [Pg.140]

Solanaceae Source. Instead, the project makes use of two botanical databases (BRAHMS at the Natural History Museum London and KeEmu at New York Botanical Gardens) to import and manage the information. These data are aggregated into a Solanaceae Scratchpad and presented on the web in the form of taxonomic treatments. The goal is to use these tools to produce printed manuscripts of new taxonomic research in addition to a comprehensive web resource on Solarium. [Pg.291]

Each chapter contains a section on recommended resources, which includes Web sites. Some of these sites contain additional tools such as software that you can download for calculation purposes or for equipment selection information or financial calculations. Developing a strong library of references and Web sites is important to acquiring skills and staying abreast with the technology advances in air pollution abatement. [Pg.48]

Appendix B provides a brief listing of information sources currently available on the World Wide Web (WWW), subject-sorted into a total of 91 WWW Universal Resource Locator (URL) links in 16 categories. Other links and information may be obtained from CA-related newsgroups such as comp, theory. cell-auto, comp.ai, comp.ai.alife and comp.ai.genetic. Additional resources may be found at the author s website at the Center for Naval Analyses http //www.cna.org/isaac. [Pg.723]

NEW A diagnostic test for the Fundamentals sections will allow instructors to determine how much their students understand and where they need additional support. Instructors can then make appropriate assignments from the Fundamentals sections. The test includes 5 to 10 problems for each Fundamentals section. The diagnostic test was created by Cynthia LaBrake of the University of Texas, Austin, and can be found on the Instructor s Resource CD-ROM and in the Instructor section of the Web site. [Pg.15]

Commercial software packages are available for conducting an LCA. A list of software packages, databases, and additional information on conducting an LCA are foimd at the U.S. EPA, Office of Research and Development, National Risk Management Research Laboratory Web site http // www.epa.gov / rumrl/lcaccess / resources.html Software. [Pg.46]

A web site, www.wiley.com/cotlege/missen] provides additional resources including sample files, demonstrations, and a description of the E-Z Solve software. [Pg.674]

If you are interested in learning more about assessment tools for drug problems, there are several great resources to find them. I recommend several books at the end of this chapter that may help. In addition, many assessment tools can be found on the Internet. The best places to look include Web sites for the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA http //www.drugabuse.gov) and... [Pg.157]

In addition, there are now several web-based resources available to aid data simulation. The internet addresses (URLs) below are correct at the time of writing (Spring 2000), but it should be noted that such URLs do have a habit of changing often. [Pg.302]

As the variety of commercially available ELISA kits grows seemingly every day, so does the availability of Web sites and technical data sheets available to the researcher. There are many excellent sites available and the ones we often use include, but are not limited to, those of CHEMICON International, BD Biosciences, Protocol Online, and Invitrogen. Additionally, very helpful resources for any laboratory are the volumes of Current Protocols such as Current Protocols in Molecular Biology and Current Protocols in Cell Biology. [Pg.216]

Go to the library and/or the Web to obtain copies of these additional resources. [Pg.47]

This guide is just a beginning. After reading it, you may wish to learn more. ADDITION TO all of the resources available on the Web, there are a great number of career-related books that can help job seekers land the best possible job. If you can t find these books at your local bookstore, they re probably available online from Amazon.com (www.amazon.com) or Barnes and Noble Online (www.bn.com). CareerBookStore.com (www.careerbookstore.com) is another excellent resource for finding and purchasing career-related books online. Also, consider reading the business and employment sections of... [Pg.222]
