Additional support needs

A child or young person has additional support needs for the purposes of this Act where, for whatever reason, the child or young person is, or is likely to be, unable without the provision of additional support to benefit from school education provided or to be provided for the child or young person (p. 1). 

We hope that the biU will not lead to a system that is more demanding of the school sector - we are thinking of the focus that could be put on the apparent failure of schools to dehver additional support needs (Scottish Parliament,... 

Unless children s rights are enshrined in the legislation, children will simply not have them because, let us face it, it is much easier to take decisions about children - especially children with additional support needs - without their input. It is much easier, more efficient and much less time consuming. That is what is happening now (Scottish Parhament, 2003a, Col. 428).

NEW A diagnostic test for the Fundamentals sections will allow instructors to determine how much their students understand and where they need additional support. Instructors can then make appropriate assignments from the Fundamentals sections. The test includes 5 to 10 problems for each Fundamentals section. The diagnostic test was created by Cynthia LaBrake of the University of Texas, Austin, and can be found on the Instructor s Resource CD-ROM and in the Instructor section of the Web site.

An objective metric is needed to gauge the level of manufacturing process understandings and control achieved—process capability can be this metric. During development studies, process capability analysis can be performed in terms of probability distribution (type of distribution, mean and variability) without regard to specifications (14) such analysis can provide useful supporting information on variability and may provide additional support for proposed regulatory acceptance criteria. Inherent variability in clinical materials can then be a benchmark and a basis for continuous improvement. 

Additionally, companies need to say the organization encourages and supports risk taking. The industry has done the reverse for many years. There are no commercial TSDFs in Indiana to support NECDF s closure activities. Additional questions need to be considered, including whether the drug candidate can be synthesized and purified in sufficient quantity to support a development program, how to document and validate these processes, how to characterize and document the impurities present in the drug substance and the drug product, and how to determine the stability of the drug substance and the drug product. However, those questions are outside the scope of this discussion.

On a larger scale and when additional data need to be attached, SDFiles or other more complex CTFile formats are often used.
