Additional support needs

A child or young person has additional support needs for the purposes of this Act where, for whatever reason, the child or young person is, or is likely to be, unable without the provision of additional support to benefit from school education provided or to be provided for the child or young person (p. 1). [Pg.30]

We hope that the biU will not lead to a system that is more demanding of the school sector - we are thinking of the focus that could be put on the apparent failure of schools to dehver additional support needs (Scottish Parliament,... [Pg.31]

Unless children s rights are enshrined in the legislation, children will simply not have them because, let us face it, it is much easier to take decisions about children - especially children with additional support needs - without their input. It is much easier, more efficient and much less time consuming. That is what is happening now (Scottish Parhament, 2003a, Col. 428). [Pg.31]

NEW A diagnostic test for the Fundamentals sections will allow instructors to determine how much their students understand and where they need additional support. Instructors can then make appropriate assignments from the Fundamentals sections. The test includes 5 to 10 problems for each Fundamentals section. The diagnostic test was created by Cynthia LaBrake of the University of Texas, Austin, and can be found on the Instructor s Resource CD-ROM and in the Instructor section of the Web site. [Pg.15]

The aldol product containing donor atoms may not readily dissociate from the chiral Lewis acid and thus compete for coordination with the substrate. This explanation is consistent with the need for stoichiometric amounts of the chiral Lewis acid to obtain high ee s. REACT IR studies provide additional support for our explanation. These results will be reported in a full account. [Pg.149]

Despite the scarcity of direct evidence, HA is generally believed to be present as a metabolic intermediate in mammalian tissues Recent studies on the reductive detoxification of HAs both by human NADH-cytochrome i>5 reductase and by human cytochrome b5 may be considered as additional supporting evidence for the in vivo formation of HA in mammalian cells that needs to be controlled in order to avoid the toxic effects of an excess of endogenously produced HA, as well as of HA produced by detoxification of xenobiotic HA derivatives " . [Pg.612]

An objective metric is needed to gauge the level of manufacturing process understandings and control achieved—process capability can be this metric. During development studies, process capability analysis can be performed in terms of probability distribution (type of distribution, mean and variability) without regard to specifications (14) such analysis can provide useful supporting information on variability and may provide additional support for proposed regulatory acceptance criteria. Inherent variability in clinical materials can then be a benchmark and a basis for continuous improvement. [Pg.504]

Additionally, companies need to say the organization encourages and supports risk taking. The industry has done the reverse for many years. We were averse to risk, which definitely discourages innovation. Just recognizing that a company must not be risk adverse to be successful is an important element. [Pg.26]

These methods have been used effectively to explore the tectonic and paleo-climate for regions in western North America, the Andes of South America, and the Tibetan plateau. The results provide additional evidence that must be included in debates about the paleobotany, paleoclimate, and tectonic evolution of these regions. The range of these results provides additional support for the need for such evidence in interpreting Earth s history and the need for continuing research in this area. [Pg.191]

The apache web server can also interact with multiple databases events are generated throughout all the company, and this requires the ability to remotely interact with data sources. Also, we want the overhead of transporting data to be small, which implies that a central web server will interact with multiple event data bases. In addition, we need to support different groups located in multiple places that need access to the console. Event gathering can store events in multiple databases. In addition to event databases, each installation uses an administrative database for storing the properties of the web site, users, roles and processes. All background processes connect to the administrative database to obtain information about the event databases they need to process (enrichment, correlation, etc.). [Pg.352]

There are no commercial TSDFs in Indiana to support NECDF s closure activities. To date, NECDF has been permitted to ship limited quantities of its secondary wastes to out-of-state permitted disposal facilities. However, additional quantities need to be shipped while bulk VX disposal operations are still ongoing so that the wastes from agent destruction operations do... [Pg.79]

Additional questions need to be considered, including whether the drug candidate can be synthesized and purified in sufficient quantity to support a development program, how to document and validate these processes, how to characterize and document the impurities present in the drug substance and the drug product, and how to determine the stability of the drug substance and the drug product. However, those questions are outside the scope of this discussion. [Pg.24]

While support for the other family members differs considerably from program to program, support for its simplest member, the Molfile, is found in almost all chemical drawing software available and in many other chemistry-related programs. This fact makes Molfile often the format of choice when chemical data are transferred, especially on the scale of individual compounds. On a larger scale and when additional data need to be attached, SDFiles or other more complex CTFile formats are often used. [Pg.82]
