Activity, looking only

It is important to remember that unexpected benefits may arise from integration. You should actively look for these benefits and document them. It may be possible to improve some of these benefits by small modifications to the plan or integration framework. Such additional work should be undertaken only with the appropriate approvals. Never the less, if any benefits would only be achieved with the integration project, you should include them in your overall statement of benefits. An example of this might be the better allocation of capital to risk reduction efforts when an integrated risk assessment is done-addressing several different types of risk. [Pg.116]

The choice of delta for such an objective cannot be obtained by looking only at past trials of the comparator against placebo. Ideas such as choosing delta to be a percentage of the expected difference between active and placebo have been advocated, but this is not considered an acceptable justification for the choice... To adeguately choose delta an informed decision must be taken, supported by evidence of what is considered an unimportant difference in the particular disease area. ... [Pg.185]

When looking at national activation policies, we can see a clear tendency to widen the range of target groups and benefit schemes to be activated, but also a certain extent of convergence towards work first policies with less emphasis on human capital formation - even in the Scandinavian countries. Hence, looking only at unemployment insurance or social assistance would not provide a complete and comparable picture of current activation practices. [Pg.14]

There are also many technical problems in applying HTE approaches to catalyst development. A catalyst, especially one for a heterogeneously catalyzed reaction, is an extremely complex system (Fig. 15.1). Looking only at the active phase, the nature of this is... [Pg.464]

Fortunately the situation was not as stark as it appears if one looks only at the number of academic positions at that time. The CNRS, which created its own hierarchy for full-time research scientists (equivalent to the hierarchy of university professors), offered such positions to many theoretical chemists, thereby expanding the number of theoretical chemists active in France. Indeed, if one limits the list to our now retired colleagues, one should remember that Alberte Pullman, Gaston Berthier, Odilon Chalvet, Carl Moser, Roland Le-febvre, and Alain Veillard spent their full careers with the CNRS. [Pg.370]

By mouse skin painting it is also possible to examine the biological activities of fractions of the total particulate material. This can be done in a complete test system, i.e. looking only at the material of interest applied repeatedly to the skin, or in a test system where the material of interest is looked at either as a tumor initiator or tumor promotor. Tumor initiation and tumor promotion assessment offer some promise as relatively short-term in vivo tests especially when a tumor susceptible mouse like SENCAR is utilized. [Pg.83]

However, tbe circumstances in which a State may withhold consent to a particular humanitarian activity on its territory are determined by specific rules of IHL and by binding Security Council decisions. These circumstances are not the same in all cases. Whether a State has lawfully withheld consent to a humanitarian activity can only be assessed by looking at the specific rules of IHL that apply in the specific situation. [Pg.141]

Initially benchmarking activities were concentrated solely on competitors until it became clear that Xerox s objective in achieving superior performance in each business function was not being obtained by looking only at competitors practices. [Pg.238]

Looking only at activity It s great that you publish a blog each day, cmd you can certainly report on that, but how is that affecting the business s bottom line How many leads are those blogs generating, and how much revenue can you attribute to those blogs Focus on outcomes rather than activities. [Pg.338]

Osmotic Control. Several oral osmotic systems (OROS) have been developed by the Alza Corporation to allow controUed deHvery of highly water-soluble dmgs. The elementary osmotic pump (94) consists of an osmotic core containing dmg surrounded by a semi-permeable membrane having a laser-drilled deHvery orifice. The system looks like a conventional tablet, yet the outer layer allows only the diffusion of water into the core of the unit. The rate of water diffusion into the system is controUed by the membrane s permeabUity to water and by the osmotic activity of the core. Because the membrane does not expand as water is absorbed, the dmg solution must leave the interior of the tablet through the smaU orifice at the same rate that water enters by osmosis. The osmotic driving force is constant until aU of the dmg is dissolved thus, the osmotic system maintains a constant deHvery rate of dmg until the time of complete dissolution of the dmg. [Pg.231]

In looking for the mechanism, many intermediates are assumed. Some of these are stable molecules in pure form but very active in reacting systems. Other intermediates are in very low concentration and can be identified only by special analytical methods, like mass spectrometry (the atomic species of hydrogen and halogens, for example). These are at times referred to as active centers. Others are in transition states that the reacting cheimicals form with atoms or radicals these rarely can be isolated. In heterogeneous catalytic reaction, the absorbed reactant can... [Pg.115]
