Accountable resources

Should for one reason or another the climate change issue disappear, there would only be a future for nuclear power if it can compete vis-a-vis combined cycle natural gas plants. At least for the next 50 years, there should be adequate gas resources and if gas hydrate deposits are taken into account, resources could last centuries. 

Last, but not least, we still have to take into account resources scarcity fossil fuels for which oil reserves, the cheapest ones and those of best quality, are concentrated in politically unstable areas of the planet and do not remain superseding today for the great majority of the vehicle fleet.

Product innovation absorbs considerable resources in the fine chemicals industry, in part because of the shorter life cycles of fine chemicals as compared to commodities. Thus the R D department of a fine chemicals manufacturer typically is divided into a laboratory or process research section and a development section, the latter absorbing the Hon s share of the R D budget, which typically accounts for 5 to 10% of sales. Support functions include the analytical services, engineering, maintenance, and Hbrary. 

In the geochemistry of fluorine, the close match in the ionic radii of fluoride (0.136 nm), hydroxide (0.140 nm), and oxide ion (0.140 nm) allows a sequential replacement of oxygen by fluorine in a wide variety of minerals. This accounts for the wide dissemination of the element in nature. The ready formation of volatile silicon tetrafluoride, the pyrohydrolysis of fluorides to hydrogen fluoride, and the low solubility of calcium fluoride and of calcium fluorophosphates, have provided a geochemical cycle in which fluorine may be stripped from solution by limestone and by apatite to form the deposits of fluorspar and of phosphate rock (fluoroapatite [1306-01 -0]) approximately CaF2 3Ca2(P0 2 which ate the world s main resources of fluorine (1). 

EinaHy, the researcher must consider the kind of strategy which best fits the company taking into account management, financial, marketing, and technical resources. 

For 1976 the Consumer Product Safety Commission estimated that the total of all flame producers, ie, book matches (made from cardboard), iadividual (wooden) stick matches, and lighters, amounted to 645 x 10 of such fire resources or "lights." Paper matches accounted for about 65% or 420 x 10 , lighters for 25% or 160 X 10 , and wooden matches, the remaining 10% or 65 x 10 . ... 

Domestic. Estimates of U.S. uranium resources for reasonably assured resources, estimated additional resources, and speculative resources at costs of 80, 130, and 260/kg of uranium are given in Table 1 (18). These estimates include only conventional uranium resources, which principally include sandstone deposits of the Colorado Plateaus, the Wyoming basins, and the Gulf Coastal Plain of Texas. Marine phosphorite deposits in central Elorida, the western United States, and other areas contain low grade uranium having 30—150 ppm U that can be recovered as a by-product from wet-process phosphoric acid. Because of relatively low uranium prices, on the order of 20.67/kg U (19), in situ leach and by-product plants accounted for 76% of total uranium production in 1992 (20). 

Accountants regard assets as resources that have not yet been used up. Assets are normally shown on the balance sheet at cost minus accumulated depreciation. In this sense, the depreciation charge for an accounting period is the means of converting a part of an asset into a current expenditure that is then listed as an expense in the income statement. 

Where a supplier has a quality system that covers the whole business, the audit plan must not include elements that are not implemented for automotive customer needs e.g. elements of Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, IT, Legal, Marketing, Sales, Public Relations may not serve automotive customers needs but company needs. 

An effective maintenance system depends upon it being adequately resourced. Maintenance resources include people with appropriate skills, replacement parts and materials, access to support from OEMs when needed, and the funds to purchase this material. If the equipment is no longer supported by the OEM, then you may need to cannibalize old machines or manufacture the parts yourself. This can be a problem since you may not have a new part from which to take measurements. At some point you need to decide whether it is more economical to maintain the old equipment than to buy new. Your inventory control system needs to account for equipment spares and to adjust spares holding based on usage.

If an element has no system at all, it may indicate that the facility manager does not fully understand what the element requires, or is for some reason unable to cany his/her responsibilities. In addition, a weakness in corporate oversight, direction, or resource allocation may contribute to the problem. Either way, the plan you develop must take these gaps into account.
