A tacticity

Early in the program, critical components (e.g.,the turbomolecular pump) and circuit boards were tested for their ability to survive neutron and gamma irradiation rates and doses similar to those that would be received from exposure to the detonation of a tactical nuclear device. All components were powered up at the start of the gamma irradiation tests but not during the neutron irradiation tests. Circuit boards were protected by circumvention circuits that powered down critical circuits in 10 to lOOps upon detecting radiation. All components survived the nuclear radiation tests. This unusual performance was noted with positive commendations by the staff at the White Sands Missile Range, where the tests were performed. Tests of the fully integrated CBMS II system, installed in a reconnaissance vehicle, will be conducted in the future. [Pg.85]

This is a tactic of interpreting an entity by adopting the presupposition that it is an approximation of the ideal of an optimally designed (i.e. rational) self-regarding agent. No attempt is made to... [Pg.102]

PP synthesized using TiCl4/Et3Al is mostly isotactic, but two minor fractions are also produced. One is a soluble, atactic PP, whilst the other fraction is a partially crystalline, elastomeric stereoblock of iso- and a-tactic PP sequences.98 Elastomeric PP may also be prepared using the ansa-titanoccnc complex, (26), (although this catalyst does undergo rapid deactivation).99 Stereoblock formation was attributed to an equilibrium mixture of slowly interconverting isospecific and aspecific catalyst sites. Other stereoblock PP materials have been prepared via chain transfer between two catalysts of different stereoselectivities.101,102... [Pg.5]

An early biphenyl candidate, A-331440 (6) has been reported to be a competitive, potent inverse agonist with balanced activity at human and rat H3Rs with good oral bioavailability [40]. While A-331440 was active in obesity models, its development was precluded by genotoxicity issues [41], The latter was eliminated by a tactical orf/zo-substitution on the phenoxy central core by fluorine to provide A-417022 (7). A-417022 and the 3,5-difluoro analog (A-423579) also produced prolonged weight loss over a 28-day period in a rat diet-induced obesity model [17,41],... [Pg.53]

While much of this chapter is focused on extreme Islamist terrorism, it should be emphasized that only a tiny fraction of the world s 1.44 billion Muslims support terrorism. Terrorism is a mindset and a tactic of extremes, either right or left, ethno nationalist, or religious. There has been much progress in the war on terrorism, but as demonstrated by recent attacks, we must remain vigilant for many reasons including ... [Pg.50]

Profit III tries to match the EBT level not considering taxes on a tactical value chain planning level, taxes are not decision-relevant for a global value chain strategy and network design decisions, taxes are of course an important parameter to consider when deciding on sites and locations in the value chain network... [Pg.111]

Global material flow and transport planning is also an integral part of global models not on a tactical level but addressing requirements of lead time gaps... [Pg.127]

Tactical nuclear weapon Nuclear weapon intended to affect the outcome of a tactical maneuver or battle. [Pg.25]

They may appear as a tactic. Your reader might think you are trying to add weight with words because you are worried your essay isn t well written or that your ideas aren t worth reading. [Pg.81]

Will they be able to observe and understand what the aggressors are doing Can they move in a tactically intelligent direction No doubt, their vision will be blurred by the drug effect, and they will have difficulty reading the markings on the map. [Pg.208]

Although 302196 is not very potent when compared to BZ and other glycolates, its rapid, brief effects bring it closer to the ideal for a tactical agent (Fig. 54). The logistical problems of delivering the larger doses required to produce incapacitation, however, would limit its practicality... [Pg.311]

Examples (4), (5), (6), (8), (10), (11) and (12) are tactic polymers. A stereoregular polymer is always a tactic polymer, but a tactic polymer is not always stereoregular because a tactic polymer need not have all sites of stereoisomerism defined. [Pg.27]

Polymerization in which a tactic polymer is formed. However, polymerization in which stereoisomerism present in the monomer is merely retained in the polymer is not to be regarded as stereospecific. For example, the polymerization of a chiral monomer, e.g., R)-propylene oxide ((i )-methyloxirane), with retention of configuration is not considered to be a stereospecific reaction however, selective polymerization, with retention, of one of the enantiomers present in a mixture of R)- and (S)-propylene oxide molecules is so classified. [Pg.29]

This example illustrates the capability and flexibility of our formulation to capture the details of a tactical or a medium-term planning horizon of one month. There are some minor differences in the results. This is because we were not able to access the detailed model used in their study and hence were not able to match their assumptions. [Pg.68]

Stolberg, Sheryl Gay. Looking Back and Ahead After Senate s Votes on Guns. New York Times, March 4, 2004, p. A20. While the Democrats may have won a tactical victory in provoking the Republicans into scuttling the gun lawsuit immunity bill, some Republicans believe they can make election hay in conservative states by portraying Democrats as antigun. [Pg.212]

Much has been written on the drawbacks and benefits of various fuel/oxidizer systems. The purpose of this report is to discuss the efforts of chemist and engineer in developing a new liquid propellant system ready for use in a tactical mission. [Pg.353]
