What follows here is a section-by-section overview of the contents of the Shukuk, exploring the Avicennan views and arguments discussed and al- 

Mas udi s main criticisms. A more thorough analysis and contextualisation of some discussions is provided in Chapters 3-6, but will not be attempted in the present section. 

Section 1. Estabiishing the Existence of Matter Discussed in Chapter 6. In Ishdrdt II.1.6, Avicenna proves the existence of prime matter starting from body s susceptibility to division. Body is continuous, but also divisible. So it has actual continuity, and at the same time the potentiality for discontinuity, which is the contrary of continuity. Therefore, body is a complex of two principles one which provides its actual continuity, and another which provides its potentiaUty for discontinuity. The former is corporeal form, and the latter is prime matter, which of itself lacks continuity and extension. 

Al-Mas udi objects to the claim that when body is divided, substantial continuity passes away.5 What is lost with division, he argues, is continuity as an accident in the category of continuous quantity, whose subject is body. Corporeity, on the other hand, does not change, as the parts that result from dividing a body are no less corporeal than the original body. Therefore, Avicenna s argument fails to demonstrate that body consists of prime matter and form. 

Section 2. Establishing the Einitude of Bodies In an almost impenetrable passage, Ishdrdt II.1.11, Avicenna provides a geometrical reductio ad absurdum to establish the finitude of space, which can be

Nitrogen Dioxide. Nitrogen dioxide can be formed in the gasifier from the nitrogen present in the coal. Since N02 is an acid gas, it was included in the study as a potential poison. This study was conducted with C150-1-03 in the electric furnace reactor unit. The catalyst was tested under primary wet gas conditions with up to 8 ppm N02 in the dry feed gas. Table XIV provides a synopsis of the test results. 

Very specific forms of low pH localized corrosion may develop in large high heat-flux WT boilers. Where subsequent analysis work is undertaken, the results usually provide the basis for a traceable chain of cause and effect. An example of such a chain of cause and effect is detailed in an interesting corrosion case history provided by Maringer, Saavedra, Selby, and Haberman, and published by Tall Oaks Publishing, Inc. The competing reactions are isomerization of the cationic chain end, transfer reactions to monomer, counterion and solvent, and also termination reactions. Crystal structure determinations from very small samples have become possible due to the high intensities of the X-rays from a synchrotron. Very high pressures can be exerted on a small sample situated between two anvils made from diamond. In this way, our knowledge of the behavior of matter under high pressures has been widened considerably. The following is a synopsis of current scientific toxicity and fate information for the top chemicals (by weight) that facilities within this sector self-reported as released to the environment based upon TRI data. The structure of the review is organized as follows. In Section 6.2, we will address experimental aspects concerning apparatus developments and oxide nanolayer preparation methods, and briefly comment on the interplay between experimental and theoretical results. Section 6.3 constitutes the main body of this chapter, where we present case studies of selected oxide-metal systems. They have been chosen according to their prototypical oxide nanosystem behavior and because of their importance in catalysis. We conclude with a synopsis and a brief outlook speculating on future developments. 

In combination with other theorems of Fourier transformation theory many of the fundamental structural parameters in the field of scattering are readily established. Because the corresponding relations are not easily accessible in textbooks, a synopsis of the most important tools is presented in the sequel.

As stated, much of this book is intended to be a guideline. It should not be construed that the material presented herein is the absolute requirement for any facility. Indeed, many organizations have their own policies, standards and practices for the protection of their facilities. Portions of this book are a synopsis of common practices employed in the industry and can be referred to as such where such information is unavailable or outdated. Numerous design guidelines and specifications of major, small and independent oil companies as wen as information from engineering firms and published industry references have been reviewed to assist in its preparation. Some of the latest published practices and research into fire and explosions have also been mentioned. 

In Table 2 is given a synopsis of known inhibiting and activating compounds for G-6-PDH and 6-PGDH.
