A Hardware Design Perspective

Authentication with RIPEMD-160 and other alternatives A Hardware Design Perspective... [Pg.103]

Safety-Specific Analysis. This strategy focuses on exposing and correcting the design errors that could adversely affect the hardware outputs from a system-safety perspective. Applicable safety-sensitive portions of the hardware input space and output space are analytically determined. The sensitive portions of the hardware input space are stimulated, and the output space is observed not only for the safety-sensitive intended-function requirements verification, but also for anomalous behaviours. The methods of output space observation are identified in advance, by analysis that is accomplished using traditional safety analysis techniques. [Pg.273]

In addition to the simple color-shaded representations, photorealistic model representations may be used for the review and examination of designs. The models are portrayed and used in a reality-fike environment and are supported by key hardware components. This allows for the consideration of various environmental conditions such as type and position of the light source, the observer s position and perspective, weather conditions, and surface characteristics such as texture and reflectivity. Also, animation of the object during design is possible for the review of movement characteristics. Through these visualization methods it is possible to assess a product s design before prototype production begins and aid the preparation of sales brochures and other documents. [Pg.2829]

The objective of this work is to analyze the use of software tools in hardware development for safety-critical systems, from the perspective of potential application of formal approaches to improve product quality. The rest of the paper is structured as follows. Section 2 sets the stage for the analysis, providing an overview of a design flow for PLD components, with emphasis on design verification. Section 3 outlines the potential impact of tool quality on product safety, and Section 4 discusses specific hardware issues that can still remain unresolved after formal verification of the design. [Pg.202]

White box testing uses an internal perspective of the system to design test cases based on internal structure. It requires programming skills to identify all paths through the software. The tester chooses test case inputs to exercise paths through the code and determines the appropriate outputs. In electrical hardware testing, every node in a circuit may be probed and measured, for... [Pg.450]
