Zizyphi fructus

The methanol extract of zizyphi fructus, that is, the fruits of Zizyphus jujuba, possesses sedative activity. The active principles were identified as nornuciferine and lysicamine. During this investigation a new cyclopeptide alkaloid, daechucyclopeptide-1 (26), was isolated and characterized (33). The dried fruit of the jujube Zizyphus jujuba var. iner-mis) of the family Rhamnaceae is called zizyphi fructus Japanese name, Taiso), and it is used in Kampo medicine.
