Yellow dye developer

Pyrazolone dyes are particularly versatile yellow chromophores the yellow dye developer used in Polacolor, the first instant color film, was based on a pyrazolone dye. The stmctures of the three Polacolor dyes are shown in Figure 3. The study of azo dyes derived from 4-substituted 1-naphthols led to the chromophore used in the Polacolor magenta dye developer. The Polacolor cyan dye developer contained a 1,4,5,8-tetra-substituted anthraquinone as chromophore (20).

Stilbene dyes of importance aie mosdy direct yellow dyes for ceUulosic fibers, especially paper. There have been several red and blue stilbene-containing dyes reported, but they have not (ca 1996) been developed to commercial importance. There are brown leather dyes which are stilbene-based. The most important stilbene dyes are those known siace the 1880s. The commercial importance of Direct Yellow 11 (1883), Direct Orange 15 (1888), Direct Yellow 4 (1886), and Direct Yellow 106 (1936) attest to the value, properties, and durabiUty of stilbene yellow dyes.

A colorless developer reduces exposed silver hahde in the blue-sensitive emulsion in unexposed areas dissolved silver diffuses to the dye releaser layer and triggers the release of the yellow image dye.

Azure A can be reduced to an air sensitive intermediate 71 and acylated in one step to produce the ballasted leuco 72 which can be isolated and capped with the dye chloroformate 69 to give the ballasted yellow dye release developer 73. 

A number of vat dyes developed originally for textile applications are suitable, after conversion into an appropriate pigmentary physical form, for use in many paint and plastics applications. Examples of these so-called vat pigments include the anthraquinones, Indanthrone Blue (215, C. I. Pigment Blue 60) and Flavanthrone Yellow (216, C. I. Pigment...

The color index (Cl) number, developed by the society of dyers and colorists, is used for dye classification. Once the chemical structure of a dye is known, a fivedigit Cl number is assigned to it. The first word is the dye classification and the second word is the hue or shade of the dye. For example, Cl Acid Yellow 36 (Cl 13065) is a yellow dye of the acid type. Additionally, a dye mixture may consist of several dyes for example, Navy 106 is composed of three reactive azo dyes remazol black B (Reactive Black 5), Remazol Red RB (Reactive Red 198), and Remazol Golden Yellow 3.

Currently used water soluble yellow ink-jet dyes include monoazo dyes C.I. Acid Yellow 17, 18965 [6359-98-4] and C.I. Acid Yellow 23, 19140, [1934-21-0] which exhibit symmetrical narrow absorption bands, as well as the disazo dyes C.I. Direct Yellow86, 29325 [50925-42-3] and C.I. Direct Yellow 132 [61968-26-1]. Recently developed, improved yellow dyes include disazo dye 5 of the type C.I. Direct Yellow 86, 29325, but modified by introducing carboxyl groups. Similar to C.I. Direct Black 195, this dye shows a high waterfastness on uncoated paper due to differential, pH-dependant solubility [3,12],...
