Color index

The Colour Index International is a reference database which is maintained by the Society of Dyers and Colourists and the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (12). The color index was first published in 1925. Nowadays, it is published exclusively on the internet. [Pg.40]

The color index is a reference database for manufactured color [Pg.40]

A detailed record of products available on the market is presented under each color index reference. Each product name is listed the manufacturer, physical form, principal usages and comments supplied by the manufacturer to guide prospective customers. [Pg.41]

The color index numbers are grouped into ranges according to the chemical structure, as shown in Table 4.1. Sometimes an even more detailed classification is given. [Pg.41]

The color of TSR L is measured with a Lovibond Comparator using methods outlined in the relevant International Standard (16). Raw mbber is molded into a disk 1.6 mm thick, and the color is compared and matched with that of standard glass disks. These glass disks provide a color index scale in which the higher index values correspond to darker colors. Generally the specification for TSR L is a maximum Lovibond individual value of 6 and range... [Pg.268]

Food legislation in the US was implemented in 1938 and since then has been improved dynamically. The Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act classified specific colorants to be used in food and non-food products (FD C colorants). Each colorant has a color index (Cl) number and Cl name. Colorants are also identified by their Chemical Abstract Service (CAS) registry code numbers. The two groups are Certifiable Colorants and Exempt Colorants. [Pg.584]

The color index (Cl) number, developed by the society of dyers and colorists, is used for dye classification. Once the chemical structure of a dye is known, a fivedigit Cl number is assigned to it. The first word is the dye classification and the second word is the hue or shade of the dye. For example, Cl Acid Yellow 36 (Cl 13065) is a yellow dye of the acid type. Additionally, a dye mixture may consist of several dyes for example, Navy 106 is composed of three reactive azo dyes remazol black B (Reactive Black 5), Remazol Red RB (Reactive Red 198), and Remazol Golden Yellow 3. [Pg.42]

P.O.l has lost most of its commercial significance. Its shade is a very reddish yellow the Color Index classifies it as a yellowish orange. Resistance to organic solvents is very low. P.O.l dissolves more easily in common organic solvents than do other monoazo orange pigments, and it is also less lightfast. [Pg.230]

A Japanese product like P.V.50, the pigment is registered in the Color Index as P.V.44. The two pigments are extremely similar, both coloristically and in terms of performance in application, even in detail. It is very likely that the products are chemically identical and listed twice in the Colour Index, although exhibiting different CAS numbers. [Pg.312]
