In this column, published in 2003, Kimberly Sevy is speaking of the effects of September 11, 2001, and the attack on the World Trade Center in New York. The trend of meeting for cocktails, and of restaurants emphasizing drink menus and casual dining, has only increased since. Citarella became Josephs in April 2004. [Pg.24]

On September 11, 2001, nineteen Arab terrorists stole four airliners from three different airports and killed over three thousand victims at the World Trade Center in the financial district of New York City, and the U.S. Military Headquarters at the Pentagon just outside our nation s Capital. Among the dead, were over 400 firefighters, police officers, and emergency medical service technicians and paramedics. Our first responders have definitely become terrorist targets. These Americans and others were basically killed... [Pg.203]

Mohamed Atta, Flight 11, Boston to L.A., American Airlines, Boeing 767, the first plane to hit the World Trade Center towers. [Pg.512]

Satam A1 Suqami on Flight 11, stated he was from the United Arab Emirates. He was positively identified as one of the Flight 11 hijackers only after his passport was found during a foot-by-foot search of the debris and rubble from the World Trade Center done by first responders. [Pg.518]

On Monday, March 11, 2002 — six months to the day of the September 11 terrorist attack on America — the Huffman Aviation flight school (Venice, Florida) received student visa approval forms for Mohamed Atta and Marwan Al-Shehhi from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, a part of the United States Justice Department, permitting the pair to live and study at a flight school six months after they had flown two separate commercial airliners into the World Trade Center killing upwards of 3,000 people. Is that horrific mistake justice, or incompetence for the more than 3,000 America citizens who died in this single attack or incompetence ... [Pg.523]

On September 11, 2001, two fully loaded Boeing 767 commercial aircraft were hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center towers. Over 3,000 were killed as fires from the jet fuel caused the buildings to collapse. If hydrogen were used as the fuel, the damage would have been limited to the immediate crash sites, the buildings would probably be still standing and many lives would have been spared. [Pg.112]

On March 3,1993, a typewritten communication received at The New York Times noted that the World Trade Center was bombed in the name of Allah. Mohammad Salameh, Nidel Ayyad, Ahmad Ajaj, and Mahmud Abouhalima were all identified as suspects and later found guilty after a 6-month trial. [Pg.31]

The attack resulted in the loss of approximately 184 lives at the Pentagon and nearly 3000 in New York and Pennsylvania. Approximately 42 of those who died were citizens of other counties. Both World Trade Center towers were completely destroyed and the Pentagon suffered large-scale damage. A chronology of the September 11 events is as follows. [Pg.32]

Before the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993 and the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, emergency incidents were primarily or generally thought to be caused by natural or accidental events. Examples of natural phenomena (events) include wildfires, flash floods, earthquakes, active volcanoes, droughts, and storms. These natural events are not entirely predictable, and they cannot yet be controlled or prevented (Meyer 2004). [Pg.10]

It is interesting to note that McVeigh, who was no doubt suffering from some type of severe disturbance, acted primarily alone. Actually, McVeigh is the exception that proves the rule—most terrorist acts on America are planned by a group beforehand. However, this is not always the case. For example, consider the case study that follows—an incident that occurred in 1992, before McVeigh, before the first attack on the World Trade Center, before 9/11, and prior to the anthrax attacks. [Pg.12]

It is interesting to note that the 2000 year group reported prior to the September/ October 2001 anthrax attacks and prior to 9/11 however, the student group s responses were provided after such events as the World Trade Center attack of 1993 and Timothy McVeigh s 1995 mass murder of the occupants of the Federal Building in... [Pg.22]

This view is from court testimony on terrorism from Ramzi Ahmed Yousef, who helped organize the first terrorist attack on the World Trade Center ... [Pg.24]
