Corporations are feeing stricter regulations regarding the workplace environment. Safety and injury prevention are key to keeping productivity optimal. In a process called ergonomic assessment, equipment and workstations are biomechanicaUy assessed, and adjustments are made that will limit acute or chronic injuries. Employees also receive instruction on the proper procedures to foUow, such as lifting techniques. Industry procedures need to be in place and diligently followed to protect both employees and the company. 

This research was conducted within RAND Infrastructure, Safety, and Environment (ISE), a unit of the RAND Corporation. The mission of ISE is to improve the development, operation, use, and protection of society s essential built and natural assets, and to enhance the related social assets of safety and security of individuals in transit and in their workplaces and communities. The ISE research portfolio encompasses research and analysis on a broad range of policy areas including homeland security, criminal justice, public safety, occupational safety, the environment, energy, natural resources, climate, agriculture, economic development, transportation, information and telecommunications technologies, space exploration, and other aspects of science and technology policy. 

The removal of solids from a gas or air stream is of great industrial importance. This is especially true in the last two or three decades with the increased requirements for effective solids removal from solid-laden streams mandated by law. In addition to environmental control requirements, there are health considerations not only in the workplace but also in the environment surrounding the plant site. Companies have an interest in being good corporate citizens by controlling various emissions from the plant. 

Robust and human corporate culture is sixth, reflecting the growing importance to company reputations of issues such as the environment and equality in the workplace. Although many safety issues have gained recognition in the shared workplaces and many tools and methods have been developed (especially for contractors in con-stmction sites), there are still many HSEQ and security threats related to supplier s management in global business environment. The whole supply chain needs to be considered and a comprehensive safety culture in shared workplace needs to be established. If company seeks to perform higher than average in the terms of HSEQ, they must ensure of corporate social responsibility and sustainable processes. HSEQ AP can be one method to support that purpose. 

Private corporations are employing individuals with biomechanical knowledge to perform employee fitness evaluations and to provide analyses of work environments and positions. Using these assessments, the biomechanics experts advise employers of any ergonomic changes or job modifications that will reduce the risk of workplace injury.
