Wider studies

MO calculations of electronic spectra have been performed and compared with observed values in the [2,3-d] and [3,4-d] systems (69MI21502). Good agreement was observed, as it was in a wider study of such calculations in a large series of azanaphthalenes, including several pyridopyridazines (66JSP(19)25). 

Pyrazoles can be synthesized by thermal cycloreversion of adducts formed in the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of alkyldiazoacetates with norbornadiene. The rate of the primary process of cycloaddition is accelerated by iron pentacarbonyl (Scheme 88)155 a similar catalytic effect has been observed during the formation of ethyl 5-phenyl-A2-pyrazoline-3-carboxylate from cycloaddition of ethyl diazoacetate and styrene.155 Reactions of this type are catalyzed presumably because of coordination of one or both reactants to the transition metal, and a wider study of the effect of a variety of complexes on 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition processes would be valuable. 

Good yields of l-arylaminoquinolin-2-ones are obtained when the azo-arene complexes 116 are treated with hexafluorobut-2-yne (Scheme 141).214 This procedure is particularly novel in the chemistry of orthometallated complexes in that the primary organometallic products (117) arise from the formal insertion of a three carbon unit [CO + C2(CF3)2] into the aryl-cobalt bond of 116. A wider study of the scope of this type of process using a variety of orthometallated complexes would be desirable. 

The American Chemical Society took pride in the role it had played in the recruitment of chemists for research on chemical warfare and it was largely responsible for the publication of the results of their work. A series of articles appeared in the widely read Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry designated as "Contributions from the Chemical Warfare Service," summarizing the techniques and findings useful to the wider study of chemistry (39). When the War Department attempted to abolish the Chemical Warfare Service in 1919, the ACS cooperated in a campaign of publicity about the work of the Chemical Warfare Service and contributed in a major way to its survival (40). Many chemists who formerly had worked in the Research Division delivered public addresses and wrote letters in support of the continuance of the Chemical Warfare Service to newspapers and to members of Congress. 

TAMREAC is part of a wider study being developed by our group (5a-5d) and by others (6). This effort attempts to take advantage of the best characteristic of the computer relieving the chemist of the burden of some repetitive tasks so that he may concentrate on tasks in which he excells, namely, creation of new steps and reactions, selection of the most sensible mechanistic schemes, and selection of the most lively materials to illustrate his lectures. 

The reported physical data for 1,6-naphthyridine may be gleaned from its entry in Appendix Table A2 toward the end of this book. Some wider studies of such phenomena are listed here. 

The use of singlet oxygen and ozone in the preparation of the trioxane-based ring systems is a novel departure from traditional methods of chemical synthesis and have provoked wider studies into the mechanism of such processes. Though studied by a handful of workers, these methods of preparation have found wide applicability in the synthesis of a wide range of compounds useful for the treatment of malaria. 

Tazuke et al. investigated briefly the role of this initiator in the polymerisation of N-vinylcarbazole in the context of a wider study involving metal salts as promoters. They found that aqueous nitric acid in dioxane was able to induce the polymerisation of this very sensitive monomer. Concentrations of 10 to 10" M gave 50% conversion in several hours. No useful speculation can be offered about the meaning of these results considering the very odd medium used and the rvelldcnown idiosyncra of the monomer. The pK of this acid is 8.9 in acetonitrile and 10.1 in acetic acid ... 

International Institute for Labour Studies Established in 1960, the ILO International Institute for Labour Studies in Geneva promotes a wider study and public discussion of policy issues of concern to the ILO and its constituents, through systematic interaction between the Organization and the international academic community, and other policymakers. The central theme of its activities is the interaction between labor institutions, economic growth, and equity. The Institute s means of action include research networks, social policy forums, courses and seminars, visiting scholar and internship programs, and publications. 

As part of a wider study of the chemistry of ferrocene derivatives containing organophosphorus groups, Laguna and co-workers have prepared and structurally characterised ylide complex (57). Other gold complexes containing coordinated ylides reported include mononuclear species (58), (59) and di-nuclear complex (60) which were obtained from the reactions of the ylides or... 

Before discussing mechanisms appropriate to some individual catalyst systems we may note that early indications (4) that there was a correlation between tacticity and cis content have not been borne out by wider studies. Thus high-cis polymers may be fully syndiotactic (ReCls with all monomers) or nearly atactic (WClg/BuijSn with 5), while high-trans polymers may be fully tactic (19) C( mes)W(C0)37EtAlCl2 with 1 and 1 or nearly atactic (RuCls with all monomers). From Enamines and Mercaptocarboxylic Acids. In the course of their wider study of the reaction between enamines and thiol adds, Klemmensen et have described a smooth condensation of enamines (312) derived from ethyl acetoacetate and ammonia or methylamine (/.e. ethyl j8-amino-crotonates) with a-mercaptocarboxylic acids (311) to thiazolidinones (313).
