The open-terrain factor should be used if the release occurs in flat terrain and few structures are nearby, for example, in an isolated tank farm consisting of one or two well-spaced tanks. Most researchers have found pseudo-first-order behavior for the various steps, and so it is possible to match theoretical curves with data to obtain the best rate constant values. Unfortunately, in most instances, too few data points were obtained to generate a unique theoretical fit. It is absolutely imperative that data be obtained for at least four conversion levels that are well spaced in the conversion matrix and extend to over 95% conversion. Purpose. This fracturing program was intended to devise an effective method to fracture the formation with wellbore shots. The radius of influence (ROI) suggested by the test results ranged from about 6.8 to 8.6 feet, which would result in an extraction well spacing of 10 to 15 feet.
