Waterborne poly resins

Waterborne poly(ester amide) resins based on dehydrated castor oil and niger seed oil have been prepared from fatty amides of oils with isophthalic acid, followed by neutralisation with varying percentages of triethylamine. The neutralised polymers were dispersed in water. These water dispersible resins were cured with hexamethoxymethyl melamine in varying proportions at a high temperature. ... [Pg.132]

Using a mixture of castor oil and hydroxyether of bisphenol-A (HBA) as the polyol and reacting with TDI in the presence of DBTDL catalyst at 35°C, a series of polyurethanes are prepared in an air-circulating oven for 48 h. A series of poly(urethane urea)-vinyl polymer hybrid aqueous dispersions are prepared. Waterborne poly(urethane urea) is synthesised from castor oil and polyoxypropylene polyol M = 1000 g moL ), dimethylol propionic acid and isophorone diisocyanate and then neutralised with tertiary amine. The hybrid aqueous dispersion with high oil content poly(urethane urea) exhibits excellent compressive mechanical strength. Sunflower oil-modified waterborne polyurethane resin may also be prepared. The waterborne resin is synthesised from the monoglyceride of the oU, poly(propylene-ethylene) triol, tartaric acid and toluene diisocyanate, then neutralised with triethyl amine. [Pg.166]

The use of polymeric blend composites for corrosion protection of AA 2024-T3 has been reported, including composites formed by incorporating water-soluble conducting polymers (either polymethox-yaniline sulfonic acid or poly(4-(3-pyrrole) )butane sulfonate) into various binders (a cross-linked polyvinyl alcohol, a waterborne epoxy, a modified water-dispersible polyester, and a UV-curable urethane acrylate binder) [149]. The preparation of epoxy and polyaniline composite coatings has been described, using either nanodispersed EB particles [91] or EB that was first dissolved in selected amine hardeners before adding the epoxy resin [98]. Even with very low EB loadings, these workers reported enhanced corrosion protection for steel. [Pg.1624]

The results were positive and promising. Bagherzadeh et al. [81] found that the anticorrosion performance of a two-component water-based epoxy resin coating system was improved by adding only 0.02 wt% nano-PANI. Ahmad et al. [82] investigated the corrosion protection behavior of waterborne resorcinol formaldehyde (RF)-cured composite coatings of poly(l-naphthylamine) (PNA)/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) on mild steel, and even superior corrosion protective performance was observed in different corrosive media when compared with the reported solvent-based conductive polymer coatings. [Pg.279]

Alkyd paints dominated the architectural coating market for a long period until the appearance of polymer dispersions or the so-called latex paints. Specifically for wall application waterborne paints based on poly(vinyl acetate) homo- and copolymers, styrene-acrylics and pure acrylic latexes almost completely took over the market from the alkyd resins for both interior and exterior application. However, for... [Pg.861]
