Water systems storage

Precaution Avoid use with alkaline materials and water systems Storage May be stored indefinitely in closed containers store in cool, dry place protect from excessive heat Vancide MZ-96 [R.T. Vanderbilt]... [Pg.899]

Cathodic Protection This electrochemical method of corrosion control has found wide application in the protection of carbon steel underground structures such as pipe lines and tanks from external soil corrosion. It is also widely used in water systems to protect ship hulls, offshore structures, and water-storage tanks. [Pg.2424]

BSI recommends in the table of water treatment for hot water systems that chromate inhibitors should not be used because of their undesirable impact on the environment. It should also be noted that some treatment chemicals are microbiologically degraded in storage. [Pg.580]

Amine salts of ether carboxylates inhibit internal corrosion of oil storage tanks and pipelines [230]. Furthermore it is possible to use ether carboxylates as corrosion and scale inhibitors for industrial recirculating cooling water systems, metalworking fluids, and hydraulic fluids [28,231-233]. [Pg.345]

The benefits of replacing chlorine with STABREX are in reducing environmental toxicity (because it is less toxic to aquatic wildlife), in reducing accident risk (because it is less hazardous and easier to handle), and in reducing chemical waste (because it works better, is more stable in transport/storage, is less volatile and less reactive). Environmental toxicity and accident risk have been substantially reduced in more than 2,500 industrial water systems worldwide. [Pg.59]

The plant was constructed in 2000 and it was functionally tested in the spring 2001. The function of the storage and the sea water system worked as planned. However the distribution of district cold did not functioned due to a hidden short cut between the supply and return line (unclosed buried valve). For this reason the system was not fully in operation this season. [Pg.237]

Alefeld [19] worked with closed Zeolite/water systems. They reached storage capacities of about 250 kWh/i related to the dry mass of Zeolites in their experiments. The change in the water uptake was about 25% of the Zeolites dry mass. The load levelling within a district heating net was identified... [Pg.379]

Gopa et al. [23] reported about open Zeolite/water systems for the storage of solar heat. In their work they were presenting stability tests, methods for the definition of the adsorption enthalpy in dependence on the adsorbed amount of water and the possible heating power during the discharging process. [Pg.380]

Gopal, R., B.R. Hollebone, C.H. Langford and R.A. Shigeishi, 1982. The rates of solar energy storage and retrieval in a zeolite water system, Solar Energy, 28, 421-424. [Pg.392]

The cold-water supply for the tempered water system will be ordinary cooling water. No attempt will be made to keep its temperature constant. The hot-water temperature will be maintained constant by opening and closing the steam input to the hot-water storage tank. Close control is not necessary. [Pg.175]

Although there exists a good understanding of the chemistry of phosphorus in soil-water systems, the hydrologic pathways linking spatially variable phosphorus sources, sinks, temporary storages, and transport processes in landscapes are less... [Pg.249]

Determination of critical assets that might be subject to malevolent acts that could result in undesired consequences What are the malevolent acts that could reasonably cause undesired consequences on these assets electronic, computer, or other automated systems that are utilized by the public water system (e.g., Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)) the use, storage, or handling of various chemicals the operation and maintenance of such systems... [Pg.69]

On large fire water systems, the location of pumps and storage tanks at various plant areas provides greater reliability of protection and results in less pressure drop between the pump and the area of demand. Net positive suction head (NPSH) requirements and friction loss in the piping should be considered in locating fire water pumps. [Pg.178]

Most fuel system storage tanks, transfer lines, and underground pipelines are composed of 1018/1020 carbon steel. These system components are all susceptible to internal corrosion whenever fuel containing water is introduced. Other factors which can enhance fuel storage and transportation system corrosion include ... [Pg.73]

Drain water from storage tank system. [Pg.218]

Very poor biodiesel and biodiesel blends do not shed water as effectively as conventional diesel fuel fuel haze, gelling, and low-temperature handling problems can develop if biodiesel is contaminated with water in storage and transport. Poor double bonds present in the methyl ester compounds are active sites for oxidation and condensation reactions peroxide values can increase fuel darkening and deposit formation in storage systems can occur the addition of oxidation inhibitors to biodiesel helps improve storage stability. [Pg.305]

Non-sulfonated lignins find utility as emulsifiers and stabilizers in water-based asphalt emulsions, as coreactants in phenolic binder applications, as negative plate expanders in lead acid storage batteries, as protein coagulants in fat rendering, and as flocculants in waste water systems. [Pg.527]

Thoroughly flush the HPLC system and column with HPLC-grade water. For storage, flush with 10% to 20% acetonitrile to prevent microbial growth. [Pg.1121]
