Water level monitoring

MMS is a device-to-device transmission method, like SMS, of multimedia files via the GSM network. Files can be transferred between users (i.e., from one subscriber to another) or between devices. The MMS standard uses a Wireless Application Protocol as its transmission protocol. MMS can be used in monitoring systems such as road traffic monitoring or water level monitoring. All these applications would involve the transmission of image files. No common MMS standards, including a standard volume of transmitted MMS files, have yet been adopted by GSM network operators. [Pg.424]

Many plants decided to install water level monitoring systems in response to this problem. A typical choice is the ultrasonic level measurement system. Some HI are focused on providing interlocks to automatically terminate the draining upon a low level signal. Other HI concern detection of vortex phenomena and automatic makeup of the reactor coolant system. [Pg.29]

During the field test, there are 19 water level observation holes in total, with 12 ground water level monitoring drill holes and 7 underground water level monitoring drill holes. Please refer to Table 1. [Pg.353]

Drainage drill holes and water level monitoring holes are shown as Table 2 and the drainage schedule is shown as Table 3. [Pg.353]

Several measures to further reduce the CDF in shutdown were proposed, including the monitoring of RHR pumps vortex phenomena, water level monitoring, etc. [Pg.32]

Water filtering systems should be provided to prevent the accumulation of corrosive substances in the water pool for the source assembly that may damage the containment of the radioactive sources. The filter systems should be monitored regularly for radiation levels that would indicate a failure of source integrity. An automatic water level monitor should be provided to warn of low water levels. An emergency water supply should be available. [Pg.42]

Water-level controls continuously monitor the level of water in a steam boiler in order to control the flow of feedwater into the boiler and to protect against a low water condition which may expose the heating surfaces with consequent damage. The controls may be either float operated or conductivity probes. [Pg.356]

When the well depth or diameter is unknown or a water-level measurement is not possible, purging should be carried out by pumping the well for a pre-determined period of time (e.g., at least 30min). Measurement of groundwater parameters should be monitored at intervals during the purging process and at the time of sample collection (Figure 3). [Pg.804]

Commercial laundry dryers can not be easily vented to the outside in the same way that home laundry dryers are. Because of this fact, the moist air is passed through a condenser where the water will accumulate. If there is no direct water drain, the water is directed to a holding tank. The water level is monitored using a magnetic float. When the water rises to the full level, the reed sensor is activated and shuts down the dryer. Once the water is removed, the reed sensor is deactivated, enabling the dryer to operate. [Pg.135]

In 1966 and 1967, when the use of endrin was not restricted, endrin was detected in 5 of 67 raw water samples from the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers (Schafer et al. 1969). At a later time when endrin use was substantially restricted, an Iowa study of 33 community water supplies using surface water found no detectable concentrations of endrin in the distribution systems (Wnuk et al. 1987). In an extensive water quality monitoring program conducted by the California Department of Health Services, endrin was detected (detection limit not specified) in only 2 of 5,109 public drinking water sources sampled from 1984 to 1992, at mean and maximum concentrations of 0.06 and 0.10 ppb, respectively (Storm 1994). Concentrations did not exceed the Maximum Concentration Level (MCL) of 0.2 ppb. In another recent study, endrin was not detected (detection limit not specified) in 32 samples each of raw water and highly treated reclaimed waste water undergoing evaluation as a possible supplement to raw water sources in San Diego, California (De Peyster et al. 1993). [Pg.124]

Differences in product types, thus, API gravities, can account for variations in apparent thickness as measured in a monitoring well (Figure 6.6f). Heavier product types of relatively low API gravities will tend to depress the free hydrocarbon/water level interface more than would be anticipated from a product of higher API gravity. [Pg.176]

Baildown testing is a widely used field method to evaluate the actual thickness of LNAPL product in a monitoring well. Baildown testing involves the rapid removal of fluids from the well, and subsequent monitoring of fluid levels, both the water level or potentiometric surface (oil-water interface) and NAPL level (oil-air interface), with time. Such testing was originally used as a preliminary field method to evaluate recoverability of NAPLs and thus to determine potential locations for recovery wells. All monitoring wells at a site that exhibited a measurable thickness of LNAPL were typically tested. Whether or not all the LNAPL product could be... [Pg.187]
