Watching Carefully

The following shall be watched carefully if the temperature readings are doubtful. 

Observe the temperature of downstream units or pipelines which may rise abnormally there could be discoloration of the paint on external surface or it may even get peeled off from the surface. This indicates excess fuel oil supply. Observe the colour and length of the flame inside—orange smoky flame indicates excess fuel supply bright yellow incandescent flame indicates high temperature and proper combustion. 

Observe the production rate of the plant (when ammonia or sulphur is being burnt), and the rise or fall in temperatures of downstream units which depend on the feed rate of these reactants.

An essential detail for the statistical programmer to watch for in prior or concomitant medications data is whether or not the start and stop dates are important for analyses. Unfortunately, it is often the case that the importance of the timing of prior or concomitant medications is not determined until after much of the data have been entered or even after the database is closed to entry. For instance, it may be decided later that a specific concomitant medication has to be watched carefully for interaction with a medication used in the study. If insufficient attention was placed on the quality of the medication start and stop dates, then determining whether there is overlap with study medication is difficult if not impossible.

For this reason the time, of heating must be watched carefully. Figure N4-14 shows some of the things you might do and ask during a product interview. If you have the product, and related or competing products, you may be able to take something along with you to show. You may be able to let the interviewed use it. Watch carefully this can lead to product improvement ideas. The questions in the figure should be clear, but you should have other ones yourself.

Antivenom treatment can be complicated by early reactions (anaphylaxis), pyrogenic reactions, or late reactions (serum sickness-type). The incidence and severity of early reactions is proportional to the dose of antivenom and the speed with which it enters the blood stream (1,2). These reactions usually develop within 10-180 minutes of starting antivenom therapy. The reported incidence of early reactions after intravenous antivenom in snakebite patients, which ranges from 43% (3) to 81% (4), appears to increase with the dose and decrease when refined antivenom is used and administration is by intramuscular rather than intravenous injection. Unless patients are watched carefully for 3 hours after treatment, mild reactions can be missed and deaths misattributed to the envenoming itself. In most cases symptoms are mild urticaria, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and fever however, in up to 40% of cases severe systemic anaphylaxis develops, with bronchospasm, hypotension, or angioedema. However, deaths are rare (5). 

The first step is to show that a periodic solution exists. The argument uses a clever idea introduced by Poincare long ago. Watch carefully—this idea will come up frequently in our later work. 

The reaction must be watched carefully. Vigorous foaming sometimes occurs and necessitates the addition of small quantities of cold water from a wash bottle.

These patients should be watched carefully for 4 to 6 hours postexposure (see the earlier discussion on phosgene) however, severe clinical sequelae are uncommon.
