Finishers. Magnetic finishing dmms are designed to produce the highest possible iron content in the concentrate. Typically, the feed size has been reduced to a nominal size of —74 fim (—200 mesh) or —44 fim (—325 mesh) in a ball mill circuit. The feed tank and feed arrangement of the finisher separator is usually of the semicountercurrent design. The objective is to disperse the feed particles in order to obtain maximum rejection of nonmagnetic particles. Both 762 and 914 mm dia dmms have been used in finisher appHcations. Dmm covers frequendy are not used in finisher constmction because of the material size. [Pg.425]

Constmction lumber is milled, ie, smoothed, after it has dried to its finished dimensions. These dimensions are less than the nominal size of the lumber which is based on the size of the green wood cut during the sawing operation. Nominal versus actual sizes of constmction lumber in the United States is given in Table 1. [Pg.317]

Additional non-linearities arise from the faet that valves of different nominal sizes are operated in sequenee. An initial improvement in the eontrol response was aehieved in that the steady-state duty point eharaeteristies for operation with and without the expander were stored in funetion generators in the eontroller. Depending on the operational state, the output of the proeess eontroller (regenerator pressure, or differential pressure, between the regenerator and the reaetor) is applied to one or the other of these eharaeteristies. In the event of an expander trip, the system immediately switehes from one eharaeteristie to the other. This results in linearization of the eharaeteristie profile. [Pg.388]

While there may be reasons to only use one cooler, filters should be dual on all but the smallest standard compressors. The filter should remove particles to a nominal size of 10 microns. A fdtration to a smaller particle size should be considered however, getting the system clean to that level will take more patience. The transfer between filters will occur Irequently during the initial operation period and the dual filters will be found quite handy. [Pg.316]

An important application of a rupture disc device is at the inlet of a pressure relief valve. The sizing of the pressure relief valve or rupture disc device combination requires that the pressure relief valve first be sized to meet the required relieving capacity. The normal size of the rupture disc device installed at the inlet of the pressure relief valve must be equal to or greater than the nominal size of the inlet connection of the valve to permit sufficient flow capacity and valve performance. The failure modes of rupture discs are [40] ... [Pg.979]

Lower limit of a duct The algebraic difference between the minimum limit of size and the corresponding nominal size. [Pg.1456]

Nominal size of an ATD The nominal value of dimensions of the prepared opening (duct) into which the air terminal device is to be fitted. For an air diffuser, the nominal size is generally defined as the duct size into which the neck of the device is fitted. [Pg.1461]

Nominal size of a duct or fitting The reference dimension used for the designation, calculation, and application of ducts and fittings. [Pg.1461]

Friction loss in rubber-lined pipe is usually considered equivalent to that in new steel pipe of one-half to one nominal size smaller, with little or no change due to aging, unless knowm conditions can be interpolated. For a given inside diameter, the friction loss is the same (or slightly less) than clean steel pipe. [Pg.90]

An example is the classification scheme used by British Coal, and is common throughout the UK. The scheme divides coals into groups, generally as shown in Table 15.6. The group, grading and modes of preparation of a coal serve to indicate the usage for which the coal is suitable for application with industrial boilers. For grading of coal the nominal sizes are shown as follows ... [Pg.187]

It is important to note that the IDs of all pipes of the same nominal size are not equal. This is because the OD remains constant and the wall thickness increases as the schedule number increases. For example, a nominal 1-inch Schedule 40 pipe has a 1.049-inch ID. The same size Schedule 80 pipe has a 0.957-inch ID, while Schedule 160 pipe has 0.815-inch ID. In each case, the OD is 1.315-inch and the wall thickness varies. The actual wall thickness is the difference between the OD and ID divided by 2. [Pg.616]

Row control valves, such as back pressure valves, will not necessarily be the same nominal size as the pipe in which they are fitted. Manufacturers data for selection of their products is usually very comprehensive, and their guidance should be sought in case of any doubt. [Pg.129]
