The major producers of VAM and VAM-based polymers include, but are not limited to, BP of the UK and Wacker Chemie of Germany. Celanese Chemicals, Dow Chemical Corp., DuPont and Millenium are important USA-based producers. In Asia, Kuraray, Nippon Gohsei and Showa Denko of Japan Dairen Chemical and Asian Acetyls of Taiwan and Shanghai Petrochemical and Sichuan Vinylon Works of China produce VAM and their polymers. These regions are also the major markets for the different products obtained from PVAc and its derivatives. 

Major suppliers of defoamers and deaerating agents are American Ingredients Co., Harwick Chemical Corp., Wacker Silicones Corp., and Witco Corp. 

Typical suppliers of fatty acid amide lubricants include Ashland Chemical Inc., C. P. Hall Co., and Witco Corp. Typical suppliers of fatty acid esters include Akzo Chemical Inc., Eastman Chemical Products, and ICI Americas Inc. Typical suppliers of metallic stearates include Hammond Lead Products, Inc., Harwich Chemical Corp., and Witco Corp. Typical suppliers of molybdenum disulfide include Acheson Colloids Co., CSA Chemicals, and Specialty Products Co. Typical suppliers of paraffin waxes include Astor Wax Corp. C. P. Hall Co., and Hoechst Celanese Corp. Typical suppliers of polyethylene waxes inclnde Astor Wax Co., Eastman Chemical Products and Exxon Chemical Co. Typical suppliers of silicone lubricants include Ashland Chemical Inc., Dow Coming Corp. and Wacker Silicones Corp. Typical suppliers of fluorocarbon lubricants include Acheson Colloids Co., DuPont, and Harwich Chemical Corp. 

There are many manufacturers of slip agents. Major manufacturers include Akxo Chemicals Inc. Crowley Chanical Co. C. P. Hall Co. Emery Group, Henkel Corp. ICl Americas hic. Struktol Co. Wacker Silicones Corp. and Witco Corp.

In addition to plants already existing at Farbwerke Hoechst A. G. and Wacker Chemie G.m.b.H. in Germany, other plants have been or are being built by Rhone-Poulenc, France Societa Edison, Italy Pemex, Mexico Celanese Corp. at Bay City, Tex. and Shawinigan Chemicals Ltd., Canada. Plants are also being installed in Japan. Some use the one-stage, others the two-stage process for acetaldehyde manufacture, licensed by the Aldehyd G.m.b.H. 

A recent study indicates that if the Wacker process proves to be substantially cheaper than the acetylene route, no more vinyl acetate plants will be built in the United States, based on the latter process (38). Table XV gives estimated production costs for manufacturing vinyl acetate. Several companies are building or have already built plants to manufacture vinyl acetate from ethylene. These include Distillers Co., Ltd., British Celanese, Imperial Chemical Industries, and Celanese Corp., to name only a few. 

The principal companies supplying flexible silicone resin products are General Electric, Dow Corning Corp. (Silastic), Stauffer Chemical Co., Union Carbide Corp., Wacker, and Shin Etsu.
