Integrated Methanol Fuel Processor for 100 W Power Output [Pg.364]

Schouten et al. [113] presented the design of a methanol fuel processor for an electrical power output of 100 W, which was done in the scope of a project funded by the European Union (MiRTH-e). In contrast to [ISMol 3], the processor was composed of three separate devices. [Pg.364]

The proposed proeedure are detailed next eaeh SPMD was mierowave-assisted extraeted twiee with 30 mL hexane aeetone, and irradiated with 250 W power output, until 90°C in 10 minutes, being this temperature held for another 10 minutes. Clean-up of extraet was performed by aeetonitrile-hexane partitioning eoupled by a solid-phase extraetion with a eombined eartridge of 2 g basie-alumina (deaetivated with 5% water) and 0.5 g C. ... [Pg.196]

Two Li-ion battery banks, 10 Ah and 40 Ah, respectively, with the OCV around 55 V were incorporated into the fuel cell system as the internal power. The 40 Ah battery bank was directly connected to the DC buss of the load (i.e., it is connected in parallel between the fuel cell system s DC-EXZ converter and the load). During the startup of the fuel cell system, this battery bank supplied DC power to the load directly without DC-DC conversion because it was connected to the DC buss directly. This battery bank itself can supply 2500 W power output for more than 40 minutes at a discharge rate of 1.25 C in case the fuel cell stack fails to start. The system set a 5-second delay for starting the stack, because if the grid power was back within 5 seconds, the stack would not start in order to reduce its start-stop numbers, and thus lengthen its lifetime (the performance decay caused by one start-stop cycle... [Pg.204]

Translator. A low-power system that rebroadcasts the signal of another station on a different channel. Translators are designed to provide fill-in coverage for a station that cannot reach a particular community because of the local terrain. Translators operating in the VHF band are limited to 100-W power output (ERP), and UHF translators are limited to 1 kW. [Pg.1715]

Because normal radioisotopic decay lowers the thermal output by about 2.5%/yr in these units, they are purposefully overdesigned for beginning of life conditions. Several of these generators have successfully operated for as long as 28 years. This is approximately equal to the half-life of the strontium-90 isotope used in the heat sources. The original SNAP-7 series immobilized the strontium-90 as the titanate, but the more recent ones have used it in the form of the fluoride, which is also very stable. A number of tiny nuclear-powered cardiac pacemaker batteries were developed, which have electrical power outputs of 33—600 p.W and have been proven in use (17). [Pg.509]

In general, the linear regulator is quite useful for those power supply applieations requiring less than 10 W of output power. Above 10 W, the heatsink required beeomes so large and expensive that a switehing power supply beeomes more attraetive. [Pg.11]

Sinee the -i-5 is the most sensed output but has only 5 W of the 65 W output, let us ealeulate the highest power output filter pole and use it for our eompensation aetivities sinee its filter pole will be mueh lower in frequency and pushing its compensation lower in frequency will only boost the phase of the closed loop. This is erring in the safe direction. [Pg.119]

Gemini North Observatory/CTI Mode-locked SFG Laser. CTT is developing the first commercial solid-state Na LGS system. It will be installed on the center section of the 8-m Gemini North telescope, with the output beam relayed to a projector behind the secondary mirror. The projected beam is required to be 10-20 W power, with M2 < 1.5. The architecture is based on sum-frequency mixing two mode-locked solid-state Nd YAG lasers. The mode-locked format provides significantly higher peak intensity than CW, enabling more efficient SFG conversion. The laser is also free of the thermal and intensity transients that are inherent in the macro pulse format. The chosen... [Pg.232]

If faster scanning rates are required for some specific applications they can easily be reached either by increasing the power output of the laser up to 5 W, or by focusing the beam down into the micron range. Table I compares the results obtained with the unfocused laser beam and with a 100 or 10 pm laser spot. With the most sharply focused beam, carbonization alrealy occured at a scanning speed of 50 cm s-1 and the exposure time dropped into the microsecond range. [Pg.207]
