Polytetrafiuoroethylene suture is composed of expanded polytetrafiuoroethylene (ePTEE), resulting in a porous microstmcture having longitudinally oriented nodes and fibrils. The suture is sold by W. L. Gore Associates, Inc. under the trade name Gore-Tex Suture.

All of the previously mentioned techniques involve coating the MPL on top of a substrate, such as the DL or the membrane [125]. However, the MPL can also be made out of a carbon-based polymer porous sheet that is simply placed between the CL and DL when assembling the fuel cell [129,140-142]. The sheet-based MPL approach is not as common and is not widely used. In fact, in previous years a commercially based MPL film was available (Carbel MP, W. L. Gore Associates, Inc.) but is now no longer manufactured. Shi et al. [140] prepared an MPL sheet using a two-roll-shaft roller to roll a mixture of carbon black and PTFE repeatedly. Once the desired toughness in the film was achieved, it was sintered. This MPL sheet performed well, especially under high-humidification conditions. 

W. L. Gore Associates (Figure 2.17) has developed a type of tray from which product particles cannot escape during the drying process - the Lyoguard tray. When handling cytostatic products, persons, the environment and the freeze-dryer are protected from contamination.

For a bubble-free ozonation of water, W.L. Gore Associates (Elkton, Maryland) commercializes the DISSO3LVE module made of ozone-resistant hbers in PTEE. A helix arrangement of the hbers leads to higher shell side mass-transfer coefficients than the parallel conhguration. 

More recently, W. L. Gore Associates, Inc. [31] have used expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) porous films and PFSA resin solutions to produce a composite membrane. In this process, the PFSA solution was brushed onto both sides of the ePTFE film so as to impregnate and substantially occlude the interior volume of the film a nonionic surfactant (5%, w/v) was then added into the PFSA solution as a penetrant. The surfactant was removed by soaking in isopropanol after drying at 140 °C (this procedure was repeated several times so as to fully occlude the interior... 

Corrosion resistant fluoropolymer coatings are currently marketed by W. L. Gore Associates, Inc. (Fluoroshield) and Pfaudler. 

Etching solutions can be purchased from a number of sources. They include Fluoro Etch by Acton Corp. and Tetra-Etch by W. L. Gore Associates. Some companies, such as Acton Corp., provide surface treatment service. Operational safety and waste disposal are two issues concerning parties that deal with etching solutions. 

Teflon and other fluorocarbon surfaces may be altered by chemical treatments using solvent solutions of sodium naphthalene complex or molten sodium. Teflon etchants, for example, Tetra-Etch , a tradename and product of W. L. Gore Associates, are effective in improving adhesion to Teflon. Oxidation treatments for metals such as copper or aluminum also produce highly polar oxide surfaces that are more easily bondable.
