A very important parameter ia routine control of the process is the ratio of the MLSS volume to the dry weight, called the Sludge Volume Index (SVI). A weU operating plant has an SVI of 50 to 100, but operational difficulties occur when the SVI approaches 150. At this poiat the sludge settles poorly. [Pg.284]

With the publication of Vol. 51 we should also like to refer to editorial policy this series publishes invited, critical review articles of new developments in all areas of Polymer Science in English (authors may naturally also include works of their own). The responsible editor, that means the editor who has invited the article, discusses the scope of the review with the author on the basis of a tentative outline which the author is asked to provide. Author and editor are responsible for the scientific quality of the contribution the editor s name appears at the end of it. Manuscripts must be submitted, in content, language and form satisfactory, to Springer-Verlag. Figures and formulas should be reproducible. To meet readers wishes, the publisher adds to each volume a volume index which approximately characterizes the content. [Pg.228]

Editors and publisher make all efforts to publish the manuscripts as rapidly as possible, i.e., at the maximum, six months after the submission of an accepted paper. This means that contributions from diverse areas of Polymer Science must occasionally be united in one volume. In such cases a volume index cannot meet all expectations, but will nevertheless provide more information than a mere volume number. [Pg.228]

Because parts of the model are used in the Dutch pesticide authorization procedure to estimate worker exposure during re-entry, a study was conducted to validate some of the aspects of the proposed model. Emphasis was put on the relationship between hie applied amount of active ingredient and the resulting increase of DFR in relevant zones (crop heights), as well as determining factors (i.e., application techniques and crop density, or leaf volume index). In addition, the influence of re-entry time and crop density on transfer factors (calculated from levels of re-entry exposure and either DFR or SFR) was studied. [Pg.123]

The results of the DFR assessment of different crop zones indicate that low-volume applications result in a more homogeneous distribution over the crop compared to high-volume applications. A recent study on the interception of high-volume applications in the cultivation of chrysanthemums revealed interception ratios from 0.2 to 1 related to the leaf area index (LAI) (Veerman et al., 1994). In our study, it was not easy to assess the LAI because of the structure of the carnation crop. Estimation of the LAI based on the results of estimation of the crop density (leaf volume index) was not reliable enough and resulted in a large variance of the calculated interception ratio (from 0.4 up to 5). [Pg.134]

A file with the complete volume indexes Vols.22 (1972) through 169 (1994) in delimited ASCII format is available for downloading at no charge from the Springer EARN mailbox. Delimited ASCII format can be imported into most databanks. [Pg.8]

Dofetilide does not significantly alter the mean arterial blood pressure, cardiac output, cardiac index, stroke volume index, or systemic vascular resistance. There is a slight increase in the delta pressure/delta time (dP/dt) of ventricular myocytes. [Pg.189]

Carvedilol significantly reduces systemic blood pressure, pulmonary artery pressure, right atrial pressure, systemic vascular resistance, and heart rate, while stroke volume index is increased. [Pg.152]

Manuscripts must be submitted in content, language, and form satisfactory to Springer-Verlag. Figures and formulas should be reproducible. To meet the convenience of our readers, the publisher will include volume index which characterizes the content of the volume. [Pg.186]

Accelerated stability tests using the emulsion volume index (EVI) Accelerated aging procedure in which an emulsion in a microhematocrit tube is subjected to centrifugal force EVI = (length of emulsion phase/lolul length of column) (% fal/0.9) x 100. A higher EVI indicates a more stable emulsion under the conditions of the test. [Pg.296]

The best way of finding the entry for a particular compound in the Beilstein Handbook is to identify in which volume the compound is listed, and then to consult the appropriate volume index. In order to identify the volume of interest a few basic principles of the Beilstein System need to be understood and these are described below. [Pg.1406]
