Control Console

The control console, located in the center.of the reactor control room (see Section 5.7.1), is made up of five unit panels laid out on a circular arc of 51 in. radius and extending some 240°. At the center of this arc, the operator will be seated in a movable chair, giving him easy access to the information and control elements spread out on the panels. At his left hand is a telephone by which he can communicate with other control and instrument centers, such as the one in the Process Water Building. By looking over the top of the console, which is 40 in. from the floor, he can see the instrument panels, particularly panels D to H, standing in an arc directly in front of him. [Pg.256]

On the outside of the console, each of its five units has vertical-hinged dpora to give free access to the interior (see Fig. 5.4.A). Each panel is either hinged or otherwise removable so as to give access from the top. [Pg.256]

Panel Q also carries a number of..knobs fof adjustment of zero, calibration, and adjustment of.balance voltage for the galvanometers There are, moreover, two additional items which deserve -particular mention. One is the set of three (out, stop, and in) push button controls in the lower left corner for movement of the fission chamber. The other, is the pair of alarm lights and reset buttons at the upper r.ight -hand corner-which work from phototube alarm circuits when any of the galvanometers go off scale. [Pg.258]

To the right of panel Q, is panel R with two (horizontal) rows of elements. From left to right on the ppper row are a double throw switch for [Pg.258]

The cost of the vehicle to move the accelerator, and temporary shielding, if needed, have not been included in Table 14. The vehicle houses the control console, video system, and robotic controls. A trailer would carry the main robotic system, the electronic accelerator, magnetron, and the supplies. The cost for such a vehicle and trailer is estimated at 100,000. [Pg.1034]

Fig. 18 shows a trio of autoclaves. In the foreground is a bond assembly on a wheeled tool ready to be placed in the autoclave. A technician stands at a control console next to a two-level rack used for holding multiple bond tools in the autoclave. [Pg.1163]

Manned control rooms should always be provided with hardwired ESD activation points located on the main control console easily accessible to the operators. [Pg.120]

A CW NMR spectrometer (Figure 3.14) consists of a control console, magnet (typically electromagnets or permanent magnets are used), and two orthogonal coils (transmitter and sweep coils) of wire that serve as antennas for rf radiation. One coil is attached to an rf transmitter and the other coil is the rf amplifier (pickup) coil and is attached to the detection electronics. [Pg.135]

In deep drilling, robot drilling rigs are often used where the operator simply manipulates the rig at a control console. Techniques have been developed for diverting the direction of holes from the vertical. This is used for deposits situated under built-up areas or under the sea. [Pg.51]

A different version is the mass display tachistoscope which was designed by the author. This instrument consists of a viewing chamber 2 feet, by 2 feet, by 3 feet. The chamber contains variable shelving to permit the display of packages or containers of different sizes together with their labels, either individually or as massed displays of two or more containers. The interior perimeter of the display chamber is lined with miniature spot lamps to provide illumination levels variable between 20 and 300 watts. The face of the container is a one way mirror. When no illumination is on in the chamber the interior display is not visible to a respondent. The electronic control console controls the level of illumination in the chamber, the duration of exposure (from. 01 seconds to continuous), and repetition sequence, e.g., a one second exix)sure at given illumination can be repeated x times every y seconds. [Pg.29]

Color control is achieved through the blending of the ink and is coordinated with plate registration. The image quality is determined by the amount of ink released into the ink rollers, which in turn is adjusted via the control panel, a part of the overall control console. Before being placed on the press, the plates are scanned and the data transferred to a microcassette, which serves as the master that directs the release of ink to preset values. [Pg.460]

A selsyn reports the position of the MOB shaft to the control console on a scale which is logarithmic so as to match the exponential winding. The setting of the M(% can be changed in the upward direction by the fast motor drive, and in the downward direction by either the fast or slow. A vernier interpolation between the steps of the MOB may also be made from the control console with the 5K potentiometer shown in Fig. S.3.C. [Pg.252]

The control room layout includes an instrument panel to accommodate the initial requirements for indicators, recorders, and annunciators with a number of spare and- partially utilized panel sections for future requirements.. This panel board, - facing in the direction of the reactor, is composed of eleven 4-ft-wide by 9 ft-high sections and extends the full length of the room with a rear access door at each end. Six panel sections, three at each end of the board, lie in a straight line. These two end panel groups are connected by the central panel sections which are arranged on a radius of approximaxely 7K ft to allow for the control console. [Pg.278]
