Video-recording

The squares visible in figure 5 represent the position of hard particles at the moment of recording. Therefore the time distance between two video records is about 1,3 ms at a record rate of 750 Hz. With these data it is possible to calculate particle velocity. Figure 8 shows the particle movement in the molten bath caused by flow processes. The particles are captured at the contour of the molten bath and transported into the liquid phase. [Pg.548]

The thermoplastic elastomer polyamides have found use in conveyor and drive belts, ski and soccer shoe soles, computer keyboard pads, silent gears in audio and video recorders and cameras, and thin film for medical applications. [Pg.528]

Regular monitoring of rotor blade conditions by visual inspection, photographs, and/or video recording. A port is usually installed for this. [Pg.263]

Data were gathered from written material produced by the students during the whole process (including the final questionnaire, the video recording of all lessons, and audio recording of the discussions of each group of students). [Pg.295]

The occurrence and growth of dewetted holes, or dry patches, is followed using a video camera rigged up to a low-power microscope. Using a video recorder, it is possible to analyze up to 24 frames/second. [Pg.305]

Figure 15.3 EEG/EMG recordings showing the differences between cataplexy (A) in an orexin l mouse, and a sleep attack (B) in an OX-jR mouse. Note how cataplexy (i.e. an abrupt arrest) is associated with a transition to REM sleep, but the sleep attack (i.e. a gradual arrest) shows the characteristics of non-REM sleep after the transition. In fact, based only on these EEG/EMG records, the sleep attack would not appear unusual, and it is the associated behavior, as revealed on the concurrent video recordings (i.e. the collapse into sleep without the typical preparatory behaviors), that reveals how this type of attack is similar to the overwhelming sleepiness experienced by the narcoleptic patient. Vertical arrows denote the times at which an arrest is behaviorally evident. Scale bar is 10 sec. Adapted from Willie et al. (2003). In contrast, the orexin/ataxin-3 rat exhibited more diversity in episodes of behavioral arrest than had been observed in the mice (Beuckmann et al., 2004). Video recording and observation of these rats revealed that during ongoing motivated behaviors, such as ambulation and drinking, an abrupt change occurred... [Pg.416]

For visual observation of the cell interior through the sapphire windows a lamp mounted behind one end is used. A mirror and stereo microscope at the other end facilitate the observation. The microscope is equipped with a normal camera or a video camera. Normally the phenomena within the cell are continuously observed and controlled with video camera and colour monitor. A video recorder serves for documentation, for inspection of short time processes and for the production of standing flame pictures for size and shape determination. Instead of the microscope a Jarrell-Ash diode array rapid scan spectrometer can be attached to the cell to obtain flame spectra in the visible and UV-regions. [Pg.3]
