Vent hole

The main advantages of multilayer constmction are that it (/), reduces the risk of fragmentation (2), resists the growth of flaws from one layer to another and (2), enables leakage of the inner layer to be detected if the outer layers are provided with vent holes (53). 

Manufacmrer s shipping plugs must be removed from the bonnet vent holes before a new valve is commissioned. 

Small vertical vessels may be supported by angle support legs, as shown in Figure 12-11. Larger vertical vessels are generally supported by a skirt support, as shown in Figure 12-12. At least two (2) vent holes, 180" apart, should be provided at the uppermost location in the. skirt to prevent the accumulation of gas, which may create explosive conditions. Horizontal vessels are generally supported by a pair of saddle type supports. 

In service of hydrocarbons or other combustible liquids or gases the skirts shall be provided with minimum of two 2 inch vent holes located as high as possible 180 degrees apart. The vent holes shall clear head insulation. For sleeve may be used coupling or pipe.

A small hole has been deliberately placed in a vessel near the top to provide a controlled vent for a nitrogen purge/blankeL The hole is 0.2-inch diameter witli the vessel operating at 150 psig at 100°F. Determine the flow through this vent hole. Assume it acts as a sharp edged orifice. 

Many years ago in Singapore, we were in the process of designing a new Flyback for a major computer manufacturer (known for its alternative operating systems). The metal box for the power supply, including all mounting locations, vents, holes, and so on, was predetermined. Somehow we had to fit within the constraints. 

Reinforcement added in the form of a ring or saddle as part of area A4 shall be of reasonably constant width. A vent hole shall be provided in accordance with para. GR-3.4.9(g). 

The electrodes described in this section are commercially available. The body of these electrodes may be either glass or epoxy plastic, as we have discussed. Epoxy plastic electrodes are unbreakable. Some electrodes are gel-filled electrodes and are sealed. This means that the KC1 solution has a gelatin mixed with it. There is no vent hole, they cannot be refilled with saturated KC1, and solid KC1 cannot be added. 

The vent hole may also be used prior to the experiment to refill the outer tube with more fill solution (often supplied by the manufacturer), as this solution is lost with time or is sometimes drained out for long-term storage or cleaning. In addition, if the undissolved KC1 in the SCE disappears, more solid KC1 can be added through the vent hole.

L.4.8 If voids are present after the grouting sequence, epoxy grout may be used to fill them. If cementitious grout is used, a full 28-day cure is recommended before this epoxy is applied. Epoxy grout is usually hand pumped through high-pressure threaded fittings installed in the baseplate where voids have been found. Extreme care should be taken to ensure that excessive pressures do not buckle the baseplate. At least one vent hole should be drilled into each void to help prevent excessive pressures. 

If I were constructing another one, I would have put the gas vent hole in the uppermost corner of the plates so that draining the electrolyte out would be easier when the electrolyser is turned upside down. I would also have put two gas vent holes on each plate at both upper corners to help in equalising the electrolyte levels in each cell when it s turned upside down. You would need the other hole to allow the air to flow freely between the cells when it s turned upside down to equalise the electrolyte levels. 

The lances are then matched using interconnecting piped match and plastic tape or wire, taking care to ensure that each section of piped match directly above a lance is pricked to create a vent-hole. Otherwise, the force from the ignition of the match can blow it clear of the lance before the hrework has been successfully ignited.

While gas liquid separation should occur primarily in the gas boot, smaller gas bubbles will be liberated as the flowstream velocity slows farther downstream The gas released by this secondary separation should be routed into the vapor space of the tank This is accomplished bv providing vent holes at the top of the central nser and by placing a vent in each spreader. The vent for the upper spreader should end just below the top of the tank. The vent for the lower spreader should end above the top of the upper slots, just below the upper spreader. The cross-sectional area of each vent should he large enough to keep vapor velocities low This will prevent the vapor from lifting water as it moves up the vent. 

In cases where corner joints are unavoidable while constructing tanks, it is necessary to ensure that there are no air pockets, pits or surface irregularities at weld joints to avoid possibility of air trap between the rubber lining and the metal surface. For this, suitable vent holes are to be provided. A typical method of avoiding air being trapped in weld joints is shown in figures 6.6 A, B, C and D.
