There may be a number of similarities between the OQ and PQ, but, whereas the OQ testing is based on the vendor s specifications, the PQ testing is based on the user s specifications/requirements. Various grades of sorbitol are available that differ in their pcuticle size distribution. Most of the particle size measurements reported for sorbitol are by sieve methods [1,7,26,27], and permit direct comparison with the vendor s specifications. To set the functional and performance specifications, the vendor s specification sheets can be used as guidelines. However, it is not recommended that the vendor s specifications simply be copied because compliance to the functional and performance specifications must be verified later, during operational qualification and performance qualification. Specifying too many functions and/or setting the values too stringently will significantly increase the workload for OQ. 

Pump installation is an important point to be carefully considered. In the case of vertical pumps, pump submergence should comply with the vendor s specifications. In the case of horizontal pumps, the designer should control the following points ... 

Coplanarity. Coplanarity of component leads, BGA balls, or CCGA columns is a must. All component leads should share a common seating plane within the specified tolerances associated with the component vendor s specification. The coplanarity requirement also depends on the dispensed solder paste height and paste deposit uniformity, as the solder paste accommodates some small differences in lead-to-lead coplanarity both as a paste and also as the solder assumes the characteristic dome shape upon melting. 

Once the need for a LIMS has been justified, specifications have been written, and available vendors surveyed, the LIMS selection process begins. Each vendor s product must be evaluated for conformance to the specification and flexibiUty for future modifications. If an adequate solution is not available commercially, consideration must be given to constmcting a custom LIMS solution. This could be done in-house or by contractors. While it is somewhat tedious to document the myriad details that have at this point been agreed to, it is time to rewrite the inquiry specifications. Care should be taken regarding the vendor s cardiac health to use the same verbage so as not to appear to be springing surprises. The best way to upset the vendor is to write into the specification something completely new or different from all the previous agreements. 

For most field gas units it is not necessary to specify a stripper size. Vendors have standard design amine circulation packages for a given amine circulation rate, acid-gas loading, and reboiler. These concepts can be used in a preliminary check of the vendor s design. However, lor detailed design and specification of large units, a process simulation computer model should be used. 

The plant engineer should strive to make sure that, whenever possible, his purchase orders specify compliance with the correct standard. Many manufacturers can tmthfully claim that their specifications exceed the minimum requirements of a material standard, in which case they will have no objection to its inclusion in the order. Those who protest too much that its requirements are superfluous may deserve further scmtiny. Choosing the correct specification is not always easy, and requires expertise in the relevant field. This expertise is available from consulting engineers or from an inspection authority, who will also appraise the vendor s designs and, if required, will witness critical stages of constmction and test. 

The procurement specifications or the vendor s engineering catalog will provide all of the recommended horsepower ratings needed for an analysis. These recommendations assume normal operation and must be adjusted for the actual operating conditions in a specific application. 

Confirm and document that system is operating according to vendor s functional specifications ( 0)... 

The IQ is typically followed in close succession by the OQ protocol. The OQ confirms and documents that an instrument operates in accordance with the vendor s functional specifications. Again, similar to that for the IQ, the OQ protocol is often partly, if not totally, developed by the vendor of the instrument. In some laboratories, the internal calibration tests may be incorporated as part of the OQ protocol. In most cases the protocol is typically carried out by a vendor s qualified service engineer. Since the same service engineer often performs both the IQ and the OQ, the IQ and PQ are often combined as part of an overall IQ/OQ protocol. 

Since the vendor s functional specifications are usually defined for a specific instrument component, the OQ is usually also performed on an individual component basis. This is one of the things that sets the OQ apart from the PQ, which is described later. 

Operational testing is the main body of an OQ. It should include those tests and corresponding instructions that will help validate that each instrument component in an HPLC system is operating properly according to the vendor s functional specifications. 

Third, simple approaches constrain the relationship to be the same for all contexts. Jones and Sasser (1995) find that the customer satisfaction-customer loyalty relationship varies by industry, possibly because of differences in competitive environment. Bowman and Narayandas (2001, 2004) find that customer-specific factors such as the competitive context at a given customer account can occasion differential responsiveness. Accounting for heterogeneity in customer relationships and customer response to a vendor s strategies and tactics is a key theme of much recent research in management science. 

It is the vendor s responsibihty to invoke all apphca-ble specifications to each subvendor. 

Materials shall be elearly identified in the proposal with their applieable industry standard numbers, including the material grade (see Appendix H). When no such designation is available, the vendor s material specification giving physical properties, chemical composition, and test requirements shall be included in the proposal. 

The purchaser will promptly review the vendor s data when he receives them however, this review shall not eonstitute permission to deviate from any requirements in the order unless specifically agreed upon in writing. After the data have been reviewed, the vendor shall furnish certified eopies in the quantity specified.
