Value generating

If 10% is the cost of capital to the company, then the NPV (10) represents the real measure of the project value. That is, whatever positive NPV is achieved after discounting at the cost of capital, is the net value generated by the project. The 20% discount rate sensitivity is applied to include the risks inherent in the business, and would be a typical discount rate used for screening projects. Screening is discussed in more detail in Section 13.6. 

The flow of positive ions is normally passed into a suitable ion analyzer in order to separate them according to tn/z value. For this surface ion emission process, z is aiways equal to 1, and, therefore, tn/z = m. The flow of ions at each m/z value generates an ion current that is used to measure the abundances of the ions. 

These sets of substituent parameters are dependent upon the Oj values of Table I in one respect only namely, in the p/ and values generated by the preliminary fittings as the constraints. This procedure then allows for the detection of any clearly errant substituent parameters. For example, the finite 0/ values for the CF3 substituent have been questioned (29) on the basis of an errant (too small) value of Oj. However, the substituent parameters generated from individual reaction series by this procedure (cf. Table XXV) are in good accord with the values of Table I. Accordingly, the results of this treatment provide no evidence of inadequate or errant o/values. 

We note in passing that one is to understand the statement if a scheme is stable and provides an approximation, then it is convergent given in Chapter 2, Section 2 as follows both the difference equation and the initial value generate an approximation (if we accept — (Pj u(0), then ilyoft, - Wft(O) = 0).

Model equations can be augmented with expressions accounting for covariates such as subject age, sex, weight, disease state, therapy history, and lifestyle (smoker or nonsmoker, IV drug user or not, therapy compliance, and others). If sufficient data exist, the parameters of these augmented models (or a distribution of the parameters consistent with the data) may be determined. Multiple simulations for prospective experiments or trials, with different parameter values generated from the distributions, can then be used to predict a range of outcomes and the related likelihood of each outcome. Such dose-exposure, exposure-response, or dose-response models can be classified as steady state, stochastic, of low to moderate complexity, predictive, and quantitative. A case study is described in Section 22.6. 

High reaction temperatures can cause numerical overflow problems in the computer calculation of k, owing to the very large values generated by the exponential term. This can often be eliminated by defining a value of the rate constant, kg, for some given temperature, Tq. Thus... 

One technique used in a number of facilities that utilize molten salt for metal surface treatment prior to pickling is to take advantage of the alkaline values generated in the molten salt bath in treating other wastes generated in the plant. When the bath is determined to be spent, it is in many instances manifested, hauled off-site, and land disposed. One technique is to take the solidified spent molten salt (molten salt is sold at ambient temperatures) and circulate acidic wastes generated in the facility over the material prior to entry into the waste treatment system. This in effect neutralizes the acid wastes and eliminates the requirements of manifesting and land disposal. 

Precious metals reclamation Precious metals reclamation is the recycling and recovery of precious metals (i.e., gold, silver, platinum, palladium, iridium, osmium, rhodium, and ruthenium) from hazardous waste. Because U.S. EPA found that these materials will be handled protectively as valuable commodities with significant economic value, generators, transporters, and storers of such recyclable materials are subject to reduced requirements. 

Method reproducibility — Individual incurred samples from four subjects (approximately 5% of all samples) were re-assayed individually to evaluate reproducibility. The four samples set for reanalysis and evenly spaced throughout the study were designated 101, 123, 145, and 166. The values generated from the reassays were used only to assess reproducibility and were not used in pharmacokinetic calculations. Table 2.2 summarizes the method reproducibility results. The analytical method used in study M06-830 was accurate, precise, and reproducible.

Note that the expected value on the left-hand side is an implicit function of x and t. This is generally true of all expected values generated by transported PDF methods. However, for notational simplicity, an explicit dependence is indicated only when needed to avoid confusion. In that case, we would write (Q)(x, t). 

Triclosan is retained in dental plaque for at least 8 hours, which in addition to its broad antibacterial property could make it suitable for use as an antiplaque agent in oral care preparations. However, the compound is rapidly released from oral tissues, resulting in relatively poor antiplaque properties as assessed in clinical studies of plaque formation. This observation is further corroborated by a poor correlation between minimal inhibitory concentration values generated in vitro and clinical plaque inhibitory properties of triclosan. Improvement of substantivity was accomplished by incorporation of triclosan in a polyvinyl methyl ether maleic acid copolymer (PVM/MA, Gantrez). With the combination of PVM/MA copolymer and triclosan, the substantivity of the triclosan was increased to 12 hours in the oral cavity.
